tUMD @ UW-M - Don't worry Badger fans, Crandall won't be playing...

Re: tUMD @ UW-M - Don't worry Badger fans, Crandall won't be playing...

is there a webstream on tvw for tomorrow night's game?

Re: tUMD @ UW-M - Don't worry Badger fans, Crandall won't be playing...

One of these games will be on the BTN, correct?

Enjoy that coverage :p

Wow are these guys a treat. Five minutes in and I want to poke my ear drums out. The announcers aren't very good and they don't have ice level mic so you cant hear the whistle.

I agree. Just plain awful. Mute with radio on :)

So tDogs and Gophers are tied at 20. Lets see what was the tie breaker again... Oh ya ranking in tUSCHO poll. :p

Re: tUMD @ UW-M - Don't worry Badger fans, Crandall won't be playing...

Hard to complain about the tie, but I think Bucky left a point out on the ice tonight.

We had 'em until they showed THIS on the scoreboard, literally moments before Duluth scored their third goal...

This got a huge cheer and I can only imagine that the hockey players had their souls crushed.

Re: tUMD @ UW-M - Don't worry Badger fans, Crandall won't be playing...

OMG, Gurtholfin... I'm sorry but that is really funny. tUMD tends to give up their goals right after 1. the slow clap 2. "stand up old people."

Given the OT history for the past few seasons, getting through OT without giving up the point almost seems like a win.

That's a good point.

Brought this up on twitter, but was anyone else surprised how defensive UMD played tonight? I don't remember a UMD team trapping as much ever as they did in tonights game. They were content to let Wisconsin break out clean and boggle up the neutral zone. Did not see that coming.

Re: tUMD @ UW-M - Don't worry Badger fans, Crandall won't be playing...

No, Goldy, even on this board.....read further.....

I found it hilarious that Andringa kept mentioning the dawgs were trapping, and never said UW was, even though "everybody" on this board knows how much UW traps.

Attendance: Looked aweful on tv, but the official attendance was listed at 10,900, which is still low for a game against a marque known opponent like the dawgs. Even Baggott from the WI ST Journal was pumping up the games this weekend on his articles as if someone slipped him some extra cash to do that. In comparision UW drew 10,300 for Mercyhurst Friday 2 weeks ago.

The Broadcast: The play by play guy for the BTN has a great voice, but is totally worthless. He didn't do much play by play at all. I liked how the mics the BTN had planted in the rink really picked up the student section well. It was like I was at the game.

The Game: I was disappointed it wasn't a more wide open game, but the dawgs were trapping and UW only allowed one partial breakaway. Plus 12 pp's tends to kill flow. A few of the calls agianst the dawgs were extremely borderline as well. Anyone else notice one of the ref's was wearing a fashionable flat black helmet vs the standard gloss finish? A ref ought not to draw attention to himself like that. It has to have been Shepard and not Hunt. Andringa was hard on Rumpel for the second goal, but if UW levels that player instead of allowing him to walk to the net like that, he may have not scored. I for one am very happy to get a point out of the game, now UW is tied for 9th, one pt out of 8th and 2 pts out of 6th.

Observation of USCHO's home page: Why does the home page show Olson from MT scoring on UW when MT and UW didn't even play this weekend? It implies to the casual observer that UW played MT this weekend. It's like writing an article about the the current war in Afganistan and having a picure of Soviet troops firing on the Mujahideen accompany the article.

Re: tUMD @ UW-M - Don't worry Badger fans, Crandall won't be playing...

@Timothy A. Spot on review.

The BTN somehow managed to get a mic that would pick up the puck hitting the boards, but not pick up the whistle. IDK why but it drove me crazy.

tBulldogs looked really flat the first period, but managed to pick it up a little for the rest of the game. All in all, it was an exciting game to watch. Hope tonight produces the same great action, but with a more favorable result.

OK, OK...TimothyA is not sane, but like DropPass, I agree with his assessment of the game. Some of the calls on tUMD were borderline, especially the boarding on Lamb. Shepherd looks at play as Lamb bumps the UW player along the half boards. UW sees Shep watching play, performs Oswald dive, Shep calls penalty. Good call on Shep's helmet....what a metrosexual Daddy's boy.

The game itself, I thought tUMD carried the 5x5 for the most part and had a good PK and it was needed as they seemed shorthanded most of the second period.

I agree with this. UMD looked like the better team for the last 2 periods. Funny that 2 of their 3 goals were sorta fluky.

The 2nd was really frustrating as the Badgers seemed content to take control of the puck in their own zone only to dump into UMD's and give it up. Rinse and repeat.

Although on the small side once again, I thought the crowd was pretty good overall. UMD seemed to travel pretty well also. I think I saw SCSUEuro and entourage in my section - either that or there was another Jan fan present.

Not a big fan of the "make noise" graphics they decided to run this year - actually I think it's kind of embarrassing the even need something like that.

Re: tUMD @ UW-M - Don't worry Badger fans, Crandall won't be playing...

I agree with most of the comments regarding the game on here. I did think that it was an exciting game to watch (although I have not been able to watch a game in a while, so I might have just been excited to watch college hockey again). Both goaltenders made some great saves and caughed up a few juicy rebounds to make it exciting. With the chances that were there, it easily could have been a ten goal game collectively.

Besides a few hits, I thought the game was pretty clean in comparison to the amount of penalties called. It did look from TV that UMD had a pretty good representation in the crowd. I always have more respect for a team's fans if they travel well, assuming that there are not many resident fans in Madison.

I know it has been touched on before but any idea how to "coach" a team to be better in overtime? Based on our history, I was more than happy to walk away with a tie since we manage to find every conceivable way to lose in overtime. I think given individual seasons, team composition can account for good or bad overtime performance but Eaves has an extensive history of not being able to get it done in overtime (minus the 3OT win in GB '06 of course!).

That was us and Euro! We were having to much fun for our own good. :) good thing we will be with the crease creatures tonight!

At least the make noise graphics had funny looking people. I had a chuckle at that.

UMD trapped the trap and it seemed to work well. Hopefully UMD can pull out a win tonight!

Biddy... those "funny looking people" are Wisconsinites. Don't be rude.

I was wondering if that was you. Dude, lose the weird arch-back thing - you looked retarded. :D I enjoyed watching you guys bantering with the student section. Even got your very own a**hole cheer!
