tUMD @ SCSU - Battle for First

Re: tUMD @ SCSU - Battle for First

Aaron Crandall wins another Goalie of the Week Award! Didn't see this great play coming from him but he's been very good during our unbeaten streak.

And the Offensive & Defensive POTW were Nic Dowd & Ethan Prow respectively. ;)

Our thread is boring b/c MI fans suck. I look forward to this thread every year. How do you like the apples of that particular variety?

If our fanbase doesn't have a member of the opposing fanbase to fight with, we will fight with each other. It's what makes our threads so great.

Oh **** it's on!

This thread isn't the same without people yelling and getting mad at each for very silly reasons.

Re: tUMD @ SCSU - Battle for First

Yes... that's exactly what I said. By the way, how many of those goalies in the top 20 were from garbage conferences?
Depends on what you consider a garbage conference I guess. 2 from Atlantic Hockey in GAA. He wasn't even in the top 33 for SV%. Also didn't make all-WCHA 1st, 2nd or 3rd team. Other than all those guys though, he was probably the best.

Ummm... I didn't respond to it because everything that followed the colon was dumb as ****. Is that enough of a response?
No. I want you to answer what is the worst thing that could happen if Lindgren got "lit up" on Saturday.

The worst thing that would've happened if Lindgren would have gotten lit up? We'd have lost and Duluth would be in first place right now. Bulldogs in first place has to be about the absolute worst thing that could ever happen.

Actually the worst thing is St. Cloud State in 1st

Excellent observation. That would be bad. But then we wouldn't have this "goalie controversy" that I am fabricating.

They do suck, but that's not our problem. Find some ugly helmets to justify hitting a MTU player after the whistle cause he was "celebrating too much."

If our fanbase doesn't have a member of the opposing fanbase to fight with, we will fight with each other.

That is a faced lie! Even if we have other fanbases to fight, we can still fight with each other. Multi-tasking!

Last year, I considered every non-WCHA conference garbage. What's the worst that happens if Lindgren gets lit up and Faragher isn't dressed? Nothing! 'Cause this is sports, and none of it REALLY matters.

That being said, had Lindgren gotten lit up and we had a chance to get back in the game and only could throw in Reijola, it could have cost us quite a bit. You know, you act like losing one game is no big deal... yet you seemed to be one of the bigger knee-jerk reaction people when it came to pulling Fedz. Just sayin'

Re: tUMD @ SCSU - Battle for First

Wouldn't even have been Reijola.
If Lindgren had been hurt (which was the only way he was coming out) Phillippi would have been the one going in as Reijola is red-shirting this year.
It was a ballsy move by Motzko and it worked, but that doesn't mean it was smart, it just happened to end up working in our favor.
If we see both again this weekend, cool.
I would just hope that Faragher dresses both games.
A sweep here would be huge, so let's get one.

If by "pulling Faragher" you mean giving Lindgren one start, then yes. Not sure what is knee jerk about benching a guy for one game after a month of spotty play.

Sadly, we can't fight about this, either. Because deep down both fanbases know that UND being in first is the worst thing. Duluth is just a close second.

Re: tUMD @ SCSU - Battle for First

I'm always a little surprised to see how hum-drum Leitza's stats were. He SEEMED so good. I will say that it seemed to me that he was often truly carrying the team those for years and would simply wear down by the end of the year and that would really hurt his stats. Those were the worst of the swoon seasons too, so the team started playing really poorly in front of him late in the season.

Re: tUMD @ SCSU - Battle for First

I don't see how either team benefits a whole lot this weekend unless someone sweeps.

UNO fans praying for status quo split. Better, still, 2 ties with a shootout split.

One can dream.

I recall Leitza getting lit up like 8 or 9-1 but I don't remember if it was the D or if he was having a bad game. I do remember him getting really upset after 4 or 5 goals and that probably threw him off- he was pretty emotional about it - probably was left out to dry. Dahl just left him in from what I remember. I found a score of 9-1 by CC against us Feb 25, 1996 but I couldn't find a box score anywhere to verify it was him though. I just remember the game and the feeling it was one of the lowest Husky moments that I can recall. CC went on to get 2nd in the NCAA's that year and we were 13-22 or something like that, 3rd from the bottom of the WCHA when I looked it up.

True. Except for the UMD part. That is the best.

'96 would have been a pretty down year for the Huskies. Cullen and Parrish were just freshmen, Lietza was a sophomore. He did much better his senior year. His .910 WCHA save percentage was second only to Goehring's .913. Scoring was much higher across the league back then.

You wanna REALLY be shocked by someone's stats? Look up Joe Namath's

That would require us to win a shootout. Keep dreamin'
