tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

I unfortunately was not able to make the amsoil home opener when UND got to play the spoilers but alas, I just got tickets to see your new barn in February... see you puppy-dog fans then.
Just do us a favor and park your trailer in Superior. ;)

Re: tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

The biggest reason I don't post here is bigmgr74. Luckly, since I run the umdpenaltybox site, I am able to ban him. Can't do that here. The guy is all over our threads more than we are and A) He is a football fan, not a hockey fan, and B) He isn't a UMD fan. Go figure. C) He is all over this thread more than I am on a SCSU thread.
You bannished me from your crappy little website, because You don't wish to look at the big picture. Hell, the only reason why UMD got the NCHA invite to join them is because ND didn't jump right away with UND and Denver. They wanted the rest of the big schools for that league. They only grabbed UMD because they needed somebody for the presser, and well, at least you had a recent title and well, are not St. Cloud.

And for the record, I am too a Hockey fan. I've been to plenty of college hockey games, and heck, I would have likely stuck around 2 years ago and watched a game there at the DECC if UMD had been skating at home that weekend, you know, when I met your fat face at the football game. Hoser!! :p

bigmgr74 just became my favorite poster.
Why the HELL is it that nobody ever spells my screen name right?? I swear its a conspericy man!!!

NCHA? It is the NCHC. So happy you are banned. Most of the posts in our season threads are your football related posts that I purposely ignore.

Exhibition opener tonight! Not going to make the trip up to Duluth for this game but I will be there next weekend! I cannot wait.

You didn't ignore that post where I explain the method to my madness here. If Hasadnt Been Sobar Hockey Guy hadn't bannished me, I would have eventually gotten bored with the penalty box and left you guys alone. But he went and banned me, so I really don't have any other recourse to deal with it other than to harass you guys here. So, I'm just going to be someone the UMD faithful is going to have to deal with me here, unless the guardian of the UMD fanbase relents and let's me back into the penalty box. Then I promise to only talk about football there in the Booze, Beers, and Babes forum. I doubt he'll ever relent, because I know I won't.

So did Sandelin really give J.T. Brown a one game suspension during a exhibition game for his Grandma's incident. What kind of discipline is that?

Fair discipline.
Well, Brown isn't a Baller, so he got the one game to sit and think about it. Otherwise, he probably wouldn't have even sit, because you know he would kick some A**. :p

An exhibition game suspension is weak, I don't care who you are.

He turned 21 the next week. And why not sit him for the exhibition game than the Notre Dame game. We're raising our first banner that night, why would you not want to field the best team you could? Strategy my friend, strategy.

Re: tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

There are UMD posters who want to post here and not there. I will talk hockey with people in both!
It will be a tough road to repeat. The loss of MCon is HUGE. Team MVP and one of the best players in UMD history. Big shoes to fill. I will miss Faulk's defense and Fontaine's PPG's.
It's tough for anyone to repeat, and we were not the best team in the country last year, we just made the best run at the right time, with some luck thrown in. I'm not diminishing the accomplishment, just saying that even when a team comes back loaded, they often don't repeat. We lost 2 of our top 3 scorers, probably our 2 best defensemen (3 if you count Dylan Olsen leaving mid-season last year), and a spark plug in Championship-goal scorer Kyle Schmidt. We are stating to "reload" to a degree with good recruits from year to year, but that's a lot to replace. In addition, our goaltending was very inconsistent until Reiter got really hot at exactly the right time, but we still have the same goaltenders who have yet to be consistent over a long period of time and are playing behind a young defense.

All of that being said, there is still plenty of talent on the team and we should finish in the top half of the league and be fighting for a NCAA birth. I think its unlikely that we will be challenging for the MacNaughton when late February rolls around, but stranger things have happened.

I also think the Brown punishment is a little weak. While he will, of course, be helpful against a very good Notre Dame team, suspending him for a game that means something would have sent a much stronger message, both to the players and the community, that that kind of behavior will not be tolerated and hurts the team both on and off the ice.

Well stated. Yale was the best team in the country last year and we had to beat them to help us win it all.

As far as the Brown punishment, we don't know what goes on behind the scenes and it is hard for me to rush to judgement. My question for JT is WHY?! I mean the one place in Duluth that has a cop looking for fakes...and you're JT Brown...MVP of the Frozen Four. Sigh.

i laughed when I saw he was suspended for the exhibition game only... what a punishment that is. VERY weak. It was probably only worth a one-game suspension but the fact it was served in an exhibition game is laughable.

That said, happy to have him on the ice this weekend:D

Re: tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

Just talking to a buddy of mine and can't believe no season tickets this year feels weird, but got tUMD vs The rodents tickets. Anyway thinking about going to my first game in '07 and how we were at the bottom and the rise all the way to the top without weaver. Love the fans at UMD and can't wait to go back and see the banner hanging.

Yale was not the best team in the country last year. Yale was a very good team, but were it not for Hunswick, UND was skating on April 9.

Re: tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

The goaltending has been worse than I feared thus far...
