tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

The goaltending has been worse than I feared thus far...
So has the defense...

Bad Puck luck in our losses. Not making excuses but I cannot recall so many quirky bounces that led to goals and change in momentum

Re: tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

What the hell happened to the Bulldogs this weekend? You guys had 100 shots and nothing to show for it. Does anyone have a shot chart for the games? I would love to see if the majority of the shots were from outside the slot like the Gopher fan claim.

They were. Why would we lie? Listen to Don Lucia's <A HREF="http://audioboo.fm/boos/507782-don-lucia-talks-to-the-media-after-gophers-5-4-win-at-minnesota-duluth">post game interview</A>, he discusses it.

A combinations of many factors; bad defense, bad PK, good goaltending by the Rodents, bad puck luck and some questionable reffing calls. All in all a very frustrating weekend of hockey.

fyp. :D

I'm not objecting to the shot count since it makes Patterson's stats look better,:D but it was pretty absurd. Gophers scored and no added SOG went up for them. Patterson stops a puck that is clearly way wide and it goes up as a SOG for tDogs. Just saying the shots weren't as one-sided as the stats made them look and yeah, the Dogs were doing a lot of dump and forecheck. Only Patterson was not giving easy rebounds and the Gopher D did a better job of dealing with the forecheck than recent Gopher teams have done.

I rewatched Saturday's game and I counted 13 shots on net from outside the blue line. Add to that the low percentage shots from outside the circles and the shots you mentioned that weren't even on net and the shot totals were much closer. UMD did out shoot us, but anyone who watched the games can't honestly say that the shot totals were correct, or that the quality opportunities weren't even closer.

Don't forget the two Gopher goals scored by a UMD defenseman!

Eh, I still say UMD football could beat UMTC's pitiful football team. :p

Ya cared enough to respond to it ya hoser. If you truely didn't care about it, you wouldn't have said anything about it. ;)

I care about keeping this board about hockey, not about college football. If you're butt hurt enough about last weekend's series that you need to start comparing other sports, I hope it brings you some satisfaction. As for me, I'm still happily enjoying our sweep ;)

Re: tUMD Bulldogs 2011-2012 - Hop on tBandwagon!

bigmrg74 doesn't represent UMD. He is a D-II college football fanatic who has been trolling UMD boards ever since we sent Grand Valley State packing three years ago. Why he still shows up to stir the pot, I have no idea.

The WCHA point outcome from the weekend is disappointing for the Dogs, but the games were very exciting and fun to watch from a spectator's perspective. It's too early to say where things are going. I think the young D need to step up, Reiter will be Reiter, and our forwards need to learn how to see the whole ice and not take the first shot available *cough* JT Brown *cough*. I am very happy with Herbert, he's going to be a stud.

I'm glad the gophers are finally playing to their potential, if anything it makes the rivalry more fun.

Agree on all accounts. I think the Dogs will be there in March, and will be as tough as ever :)

Because it amuses me that dropping the occasional post about UMD football and just having a slightly different opinion about things for hockey was enough for NSSHG to take his puck and go home. :p

Who went home? I'm sorry that we all don't share your passion for football. Here's a tip though. You might find more interest on a college football board. Now, if you want to talk hockey, I'd be happy too :)

Not So Sober Hockey Guy. Oh that right, you're a n00b around here. He also runs the UMDpenaltybox.com. A UMD fan site. He booted me from there for gently reminding them all that right after it was announced that UNO and Bemidji State had been admitted into the WCHA, that the Beavers did make it to the Frozen Four that year from Grand Rapids, which I was there at was a witness to the collective, who in the hell is Bemidji and why are they whipping us from the Irish fans who thought they had it in the bag. While UMD didn't quite make it when they had pretty much a home regional game in the Twin Cities that year.

The UMD fans here might site Football as the reason I got booted, but they can not dispute the fact that Bemidji making the Frozen Four in Washington while UMD sat home wasn't the straw that broke the camel's back when it came to he who be not so sober.
