tUMD and UMTC Home and Home: Winner will be decided in a dive off

Re: tUMD and UMTC Home and Home: Winner will be decided in a dive off

I call BS. There is no way any of these things were said by anyone who played in tonights game.

My sincere apologies for posting. After all the hype (spin?) the Gophers were as flat as I've seen in recent memory. But Duluth sure got the memo - they were good, **** good in fact. Maybe tomorrow night will be different.

Re: tUMD and UMTC Home and Home: Winner will be decided in a dive off

Outshot 38-17, no odd man rushes, frustration penalties, can't pass, can't receive a pass, no puck possession time, no chemistry, no hustle. Not the Gophers night is an understatement and if they get out of this weekend with a split they'll be lucky. UMD is hot right now.

Congrats to UMD on their first shutout at Mariucci in 42 years.

Re: tUMD and UMTC Home and Home: Winner will be decided in a dive off

My old man had a retirement party tonight so I didn't get to see or hear any of this game. First game in 8 years that has been either televised or played in the Twin Cities that I haven't watched.

Looks like it was good timing on my part.

Being unfamiliar with my new cable box tried to start watching the recording at about 9:15pm only to find I was watching live. Oh well. I only wasted about 10 minutes! Congrats to Duluth.

Holy cow it's been that long? They earned it for sure. That was the best game they've played all season (and best game they've played in a long time). No wonder Gopher fans hate Farley...he scores every time on the power play against them.

That being said I'm truly worried about tonight's game. Our home record is below .500 at home since the start of last year. AMSoil hasn't given us home ice advantage. It is the oddest thing. It will help having a pumped up student section and packed house, but they need to score first. THe way UMTC wins is if they score first and take the crowd out of it.

But then again UMD and Kas (#orKasm) have played outstanding the last few games.

Gophers were shutout by Denver at Mariucci 2-0 on 3/1/2013

Yeah. Saw UMD in South Bend and knew what we were facing. When they got going, they were relentless. I was more worried about Saturday night. Shows I underestimated them even more than I should have.

I think the same could be said for the Gopher players! It will be interesting to see how they respond tonight.

Funny thing is that I already had a huge amount of respect for them having seen them in South Bend. I would imagine the Gophers did too. But even so we appeared powerless.

It really is time for a big test. And this will be a big test.

Twas.
I thought MN's line changing was average last night; which was their highlight.

I assume that's why he congratulated UMD and not Denver on their first shutout at Mariucci in 42 years.

As big as a game in November can be I guess.

Big pairwise implications today as well. If UMD can flip their comparison with UMTC it will really help come March. Not guaranteed to play in the NSCC so if you can win tonight you really help your postseason chances.

Agreed. We either go up 2-1 or you guys go up 2-1, will be huge come March.

Last time I checked, UM was 7-2 NC with previous wins over UMD, SCSU and ND and a NC game against BC remaining. This one game will mean very little in the end for UM if they are worth their ranking and expectations. If they aren't worthy then they will have earned a lower seed by the whole body of work.

Re: tUMD and UMTC Home and Home: Winner will be decided in a dive off

SS - I understand what you are saying but flipping the UMD comparison could be big depending on what happens with us and elsewhere. UMD will more than likely get some quality wins the rest of the way against teams we won't play. Any NC series wins you can get are huge for PWR.

Re: tUMD and UMTC Home and Home: Winner will be decided in a dive off

Non-conference games remaining for the Gophers:

1) Saturday, November 15 at Minnesota Duluth
2) Friday, November 28 at Boston College
3) Saturday, November 29 at Northeastern
4) Friday, January 2 MERRIMACK
5) Saturday, January 3 UMASS LOWELL/RIT
6) Friday, January 23 vs Minnesota State at the X
7) Saturday, January 24 vs Bemidji State/Minnesota Duluth at the X
