Tuesday Jan. 4th Scores: Plattsburgh looks to keep the Prez 0-fer at the Stafford

Re: Tuesday Jan. 4th Scores: Plattsburgh looks to keep the Prez 0-fer at the Stafford

Oswego wins it 2-0

Congrats to Dan Jones on his first career shutout.

Kind of a sloppy win for Oswego. Despite the low 2-0 score I never really got the feeling that the game was in doubt, Skidmore is not very good on the offensive side, they have a tremendous amount of puck luck though and Colin Bessey played well in goal.

If the D-Men could figure out how to stop with the unforced turnovers they could really start to dominate some games. Jones made a couple of real good saves including a stop on a breakaway after another horrible Kevin Huinink turnover at his own blueline, leading to Dan Bremners goal a few seconds later.

I think Oswego had about nine 2 on 1's in the third period and didn't even come close to scoring on any of them and a couple of open nets were missed which could start coming bank to haunt them against better teams.

Boot's, Moodie and Whitelaw created most of the chances with the first goal being scored by Whitelaw on a virtual 3 on 0 after a very headsup play by Dan Jones to catch Skidmore on a terrible line change.

Bremner finally used his speed and drove around the defenseman tucking it under the goalie, he has been trying that play all year and it finally worked. He, along with Kelly and Badham had a ton of energy all night. Brown, Singleton and Titanic played well but failed to capitalize including Brown missing a wide open net on a deke, getting it back only to pass up the open shot instead trying to force a pass that got picked off. Some of these guys need to start pulling to trigger or they are going to keep getting into these low scoring battles.

Fox, Laganiere and Mather are just a strange line. They will either go out and create a bunch of chances on a shift or just sleepwalk through it and go on a line change. Mather was the best player on that line all night.

Augsburg shutout Finlandia 4-0. Jon Zitur got the start for the Auggies, and made 25 saves.

Fitchburg State beat Becker 3-2 in OT. Billy Pescosolido got the winner with seven seconds left, and Bobby Leiser made 37 saves as the Falcons remain undefeated in non-conference play.

I don't complain about refs to often but we drive 4 hours and he calls a guy for holding who is stickhanding the puck. Joke!!!!! 3-3 final

Anyone who knows me knows I'm no St. Louis, fan but he didn't make the call, O'Brien did Being only 8-10 feet from the infraction (and admitting to wearing blue glasses) the call had some merit as Angelo got popped pretty good coming threough the neutral zone and grabbed the Midd player as they fell...could have been ignored...but was on a par with the questionable tripping call on Resor in the 1st that led to USM's first tally. It was an interesting game of momentum ebbs and flows...lots of defensive lapses on both sides....but not a game decided by the officials IMHO.

Tonight's Plattsburgh game reminded me of this game - only the EN with 0:000001 remaining prevented the same score.

Actually, it was Forkey's second goal that prevented it from being the same score. But I'm with Derek on this one - this was far more reminiscent of the Plattsburgh-Elmira Semifinal in 2008. In fact, I was thinking about that game when Emery called the timeout :)

By the way, I thought the officials did a great job with the two 5-minute calls. Both were stupid and dangerous hits that deserved 5 minutes. The reason (IMO, but the score sheet does not reflect this) Roytman got ejected and Paquet did not was that Roytman hit the player's head, while Paquet hit the player's body. With what I know about both coaches' styles, I'd imagine neither of those players will be playing in their respective next games.

Wille C you are right is was O Brian....but I disagree with the merit of the call. Angelo dug the puck out of the corner beating two guys with hard work and was slew footed. it was a horrible call but you are right it didn't turn the game. The turning point is my mind is when Rautenberg had two break-aways and could have given USM a 3-0 lead but was stopped. It's just a long bus trip as I didn't get home until 3:20 and to have such a terrible call tie up the game hurts. Anyway good luck the rest of the season

He should be the only one in the picture along with Dubois. Wasn't a Norwich defender with-in 20 feet.

20 feet might be a bit of a stretch:rolleyes:...video here

Congradulations.

Live and from the press box it seemed Satim had time to get a cup of coffee and walk the dog before he slid it past Dubois.

I would say that 20 feet is only a bit of a stretch based on that video. I'd say a large cup of coffee, even

Re: Tuesday Jan. 4th Scores: Plattsburgh looks to keep the Prez 0-fer at the Stafford

Satims goal there looked a lot like Boots goal against Plattsburgh earlier in the year. At the time it looked like he had all night to score but on replay he actually only just got it off in time before the defense got to him.

Remember WCAX shoots from the far end of the press box when action is on that end. I was on the complete opposite side of the press box and I'd like to see what WPTZ's video looks like since that camera was shooting right next to me.

Part of the reason why the play looks closer than it actually was.
