I mean what do you talk about in UND threads? Are they dead silent except on game day? No post game discussion, no questioning decisions by the coaches or players? No critique of the game itself or how the team played at all?

I'd suggest you visit some of the UND threads, Handy, including ss.com, but the breadth and depth of discussion might be a little intimidating to you. But we are a patient and understanding lot, and we do care, so stop by.

And that's where the press fails us. They report, "Republicans say the moon is made of green cheese. Democrats say 'no, it isn't'. And that's it. That's the level of our political reporting these days. It's he said, she said, with not even an attempt to actually investigate and report what the facts actually are.

Exactly. The worst is oftentimes the people have the facts in front of them and still refuse to engage. It is cowardice and laziness.

If I say 2+2=4 and my opponent says that in his opinion it actually equals 12 the conversation doesnt stop there. Whoever is leading the discussion needs to report back that in fact one side is wrong. Just because someone has an opinion doesnt mean they are right.

And you see this has been coming on for years...it is the logical conclusion to this idea that "You cant tell me my opinion is wrong" meme that we have heard for decades. People equate the idea of being allowed to have an opinion as their opinion always being right. It isnt. You can have the opinion that water isnt wet...that is your right but guess what YOU ARE WRONG! People, the media in particular, seem afraid of the idea of saying someone is wrong.

I used to read ss.com years ago...half the time there was more posts about the Gophers than the Whioux. :D

I have zero interest in anything UND I just used them because he himself is a Whioux fan, and apparently discussing things after the fact is a waste of time in his mind. To me discussing UND is ALWAYS a waste of time :D

Who cares who the 1% went for, what matters is what the politicians would do for the 1% and this election was probably a wash in that regard.

An interesting ruling in Wisconsin that could change the contours of future elections considerably, especially 2020:

To be honest, I've never really understood the arguments for gerrymandering. It seems like an independent redistricting commission along the lines of what happens in Arizona and California would be much closer to ideal. Why you would allow politicians to draw lines to ensure their own elections has never made much sense. There are a number of mathematical models out there (Sam Wang has one) that would almost eliminate the need for human input into this.

So Haley is the UN Ambassador. Better than Bolton.

Re: Trump First Term I: I for One Welcome Our New Trumpy Overlord

I agree, but does she have any experience remotely pertaining to Foreign Policy? The contrast between Her and Powers/Rice is rather striking.

I don't know. But UN ambassador isn't like Secretary of State. I'm not sure how much an ambassador to the UN really requires foreign policy experience he more I think about it.

Eh, you're dealing with the main organization that ostensibly represents the interests of every state on the planet. I think some base knowledge of global economic, political, and cultural systems is a pre-requisite or at least should be even if you aren't going to be doing a lot of bilateral representation. There isn't anything in Haley's resume, from her Bachelor's degree through her political career that suggests she has any sort of marginal understanding of international politics.

Re: Trump First Term I: I for One Welcome Our New Trumpy Overlord

I was going to say that the UN ambassador is kind of like the press secretary to the world, but then I realized that the press secretary actually needs to be someone who understands how sausage is made.

You might be right, maybe some foreign policy experience would be preferable, but I'll still stand by my original statement that it's much better than Bolton.

This is not healthy or productive

It's well beyond time to move on and focus on 2018.

I read that last night...it is an interesting theory they have but they have zero proof so it is worthless anyways. If they want to continue the research they need to figure out a way to get their hands on an actual machine and do things independently. The Clinton campaign should stay the hell away from this until hard proof is shown and even then they have to be careful.

Since I would guess it is 99.9% not true I just shake my head.

Re: Trump First Term I: I for One Welcome Our New Trumpy Overlord

Here's why I don't buy it. Unless they all use the same manufacturer, there are far too many people who would have to be in on it. Someone would talk.

It really defies logic that the republicans would be able to pull it off in three states on such a grand scale. They couldn't even rig it to prevent Trump from happening.

Time and effort is far better spent focusing on 2018.

Re: Trump First Term I: I for One Welcome Our New Trumpy Overlord

I like how Flaggie before the election showed "proof" that a voting machine was rigged for Hillary. Guessing he doesn't think that anymore now that his candidate won.

In this one case, she should do what Nixon did. 1960 Nixon, at least. There was a lot of evidence coming out about Mayor Daley's tampering with the presidential vote in Chicago, but Nixon actually took the highroad and told the party to move on to the next election. Perhaps that was the seed of his extreme paranoia that led to his damming White House tapes.
