You aren't a techie until you don't remember taking an exam because you were blacked out drunk. Amazing I graduated with a 3.5, huh? :D

Why do taxes/loans/financial apps use parents income for 3 years after stopping claiming dependents?????? Most people I know don't use their parents' money in any financial way, so I just don't get why that's a factor in why someone should get less money from the gov't for something....

Maybe that's just the "I hate America" part of me talking, but I think it's a load of bull.

If you are living at home, or maybe have loans, your parents are paying for some of your stuff (at least in theory), hence dependent. That's how it goes, I think.

I am not living at home, although I did during like one summer while I was in school and then for a couple months between living situations. I do not have loans, I had a rich aunt that paid for my school while I was there. They don't pay any of my bills for me. I even buy some of my own food when I spend time at their place. The only thing I use is the washer and dryer when I feel like not spending money on my apt laundry lol

So forgive me if I'm wrong, but how is my parents income associated with how much money I get from the gov't from my taxes or if I DO want loans? I pay for everything by myself... It just doesn't seem to make sense in my mind. Oh well.
