TRP: It's Nut-Cuttin' Time

Re: TRP: It's Nut-Cuttin' Time

So I did my taxes Sunday night, and found out that I'm getting a much larger refund than I anticipated. I try to make is just a couple hundred dollars - I'd rather have a small check arriving from the gov't than an unexpected bill to the gov't. So at any rate, that didn't happen this year, for whatever reason, and I'm now getting back somewhere in the lower side of the four-digit range. While I don't have an HDTV yet, I was thinking about getting this: Sony BDVE500W. My old stereo broke last year, and I've been waiting to replace it. Now seems to be as good of a time as any, I'd say.

So, the hold up on my purchase, and some possible advice that others will likely debate to no end ;) are as follows:
1. Do blue-ray players even work on a standard definition TV such as what I have? I'm thinking about getting a TV, but can't seem to justify
2. With regards to impedance, if the system is designed for a specified 3 ohms, but I have a center channel that I really like and think would be far superior but is designed for 6 ohms, what's the potential fallout from using my current center channel?

Thanks!

At McDonald's last night the guy gave you the wrong kind of McFlurry, so you screamed at him, "YOU MC****ED UP."

I like "The F Word" a hell of a lot more. probably the best episode since imaginationland (that I can remember off the top of my head)

Best episodes that I can think of off the top of my head:

Critter Christmas (easily #1)
Asspen (easily #2)
Mr Hankey's Christmas (the song medley one)
Obama Has A Small Wee-Wee (or whatever it was called, you know the one)

Woodland Critter Christmas is another favorite of mine. I watched that when I was stuck in my hotel in weatherford, OK. During the meeting the next day I was struggling not to burst out laughing. Plus I was the lead engineer on the project so it was pretty important I kept it together. Big mistake watching that episode.

Your disgust threshold is set too low.

yeah, I know.

Was the F word the ep with all the guys on Harleys?

Correct.

I survived the great Chicagoland Earthquake of 2010.

It's epicenter was just down the road from where I live

Imaginationland was awesome. Probably my favorite episode from recent seasons.

These two were near each other on the page, and both cracked me up...
