Can someone please explain to me why women think that putting on so much eye make-up/mascara so as to be unable to actually see your eyes is popular?

"Look at these new super long, super thick lashes I glued to my eyelids! No, seriously look, because I can't see through them"

Edit: maybe it's just the lighting

either way, Minnesota will be lucky if they finish in the top 40 in the Miss America pagent

But WAIT! It's MRS. Minnesota.....Miss Minnesota's older and more experienced counterpart.

That said, much like Tech, she'll be lucky (and happy) if she finishes outside;) of the bottom half.

Actually, I agree with you completely. Some make-up properly done looks good, but too much is a major turn-off in my book.

Nope, that referred to >30 dates having taken place. It all started with a comment from les along the lines of "let me know when you get past 5 dates". So she was >5 for a while, then >10, and finally settled on >30 :D
