TRP: Free of political butthurt since 1999.

Re: TRP: Free of political butthurt since 1999.

Time is a funny thing...

The Wonder Years aired from 1988 and 1993 and depicted the years between 1968 and 1973. When I watched the show, it felt like it was set in a time long ago. If a new Wonder Years premiered today, it would cover the years between 2000 and 2005.

We're equidistant from the years 1990 and 2050.

Yep, that makes me feel old.

There is also the website https://you.regettingold.com where you can get fun stats, topped off with "your birth is closer to [historical event] than it is modern day."

Mine, for example, says:

April 1st, 1945:
US armed forces land on Okinawa
Nearer to your birth date than today!

That 70's Show premiered in 1998. If a show that looked back the same distance in time premiered today it would be set in...

1998.

That site is fun. After discovering how old I am, I then put my daughter's birthday in, and it said, "congratulations, you are not old at all"

Then I put my mother's birthday in, and well, she's old.
"May 21st, 1881:

The American Red Cross is established
Nearer to your birth date than today!"

Meme going around yesterday:

It's now 2020. The year 2000 was 20 years ago. Ironically, 1980 was also 20 years ago  :D :o

Today is equidistant from my birthday with the Mount Vesuvius eruption of 1906. I've beaten 12% of the people born on my birthday so far. (Or have they beaten me?)

Today is equidistant from my mother's birthday with the recognition of Greek nationhood in 1832. She has beaten 94% of the people born on her birthday. Go Mom! (Although, seriously, we need to sell the house.)

At the equidistant point for my mother, James Madison is still alive.

It's a Wonderful Life premiering in New York is closer to my birthday than today.

Also, a fun little tidbit for anyone that's 36, your total number of birthday candles is 666.

This is why Twitter was created.

For those sick of how the Weather Channel doesn't show the weather anymore, rejoice! A website emulates the Weatherstar 4000+ software that the Weather Channel originally used!

https://battaglia.ddns.net/twc/

Complete with the muzak soundtrack!
