TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

Re: TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

If not for the slew of airline employees that would be shot dead, issuing guns to everyone on the plane would be an ideal situation.

Surprisingly, I've had nothing but good things to say (in general) when I've flown (although I've only flown 1-2 times a year for the last 5 years).

yeah...I think we're booked pretty solid this weekend, so we might have to say no go. :(

I say people get no rights when they enter an airport. The Constitution should not apply. Which means Prohibition never happened!

1. :( But I totally understand. I know that this weekend wasn't the original weekend, and of course it happens on a weekend where I'm attending a hockey game. Oh well, it'll make next time that much more awesome.

2. That'd work. Oh, and let me have an area to smoke if I want. That'd be swell.

Re: TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

Apparently, some people would rather be scattered over three states from 28,000 feet than take off their shoes.
I don't have a problem with taking off my shoes, personally, and would welcome stricter security, but this is obviously a false dichotomy.

Re: TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

For those who are heading to the FFFF or are otherwise familiar with Detroit - my friends and I are trying to find a place to stay that's nearby to drinking establishments where we'll find fellow hockey fans. (Immediate proximity to Ford Field is a secondary concern.) Where should we be looking?
I was in Detroit for the first time ever for the GLI, I think Greektown would be a good bet. We didn't stay there, but we stayed within walking distance of it. It seemed like there was a decent night life around there and its close to the people mover and not too far from ford field.

The Doubletree we stayed in for GLI (near Joe Louis Arena) was clutch. There were two very fun, dive-looking bars just a block or two away and the people mover was right there a block away to get around to wherever else. Good rates too.

Re: TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

I have some random thoughts that have to do with the title.

1) We're supposed to have a blizzard tomorrow according to the weather people. Although at work today, we all agreed that it is just considered "snowing" because we're used to the wind so that's nothing new.

2) I love bacon.

3) Umm... it's been a while since I've drank. I may have to have a beer or 5 this weekend.

:)

Doubletrees are decent hotels, too. /shameless plug for a friend's company.

Re: TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

Doubletree sounds a bit too much like skiing or the wrong kind of threeway.

Re: TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

People are so *ing stupid. At MSP airport, a bomb sniffing dog thought he smelled something, so they shut down part of the airport. People being interviewed were complaining about not getting info on what was going on besides being told "there was an incident," and "I just want to get home."

Well, guess what, what if there WAS a bomb? You wouldn't be getting home because you'd be dead! Of course, that might help cull the herd, eliminating the stupid in you. And gee, you think they would tell you every detail about a possible BOMB?! Oh, wait, you're white so you're ok. NO. For all they know, you're an accomplice or the possible bomber yourself!

JFC, it's not that tough to figure out.

What kind of half-rate terrorist is going to set up a bomb out of this dump?

Re: TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

these are the same idiots that don't want tougher screening or Israel style security.

To be honest I've never thought security at airports was all that great anyways.

I wonder what the actual % increase in safety is because of security changes since 9/2001. Intially I would guess it was pretty high. But after 8-9 years I bet we are pretty close to the prior levels.

I don't know about that, I sure as hell wouldn't want to try to get something on a plane that shouldn't be there. TSA seems pretty thorough to me, and that is a very good thing.

Mandatory public strip searches for every single person getting on an airplane. With random anal probes.

Guarantee you flights would be a lot emptier, and no one would be trying to sneak s*** onto a plane.

I'd give it 30 minutes before people lawyer up and get sexual harassment charges filed.

A friend of mine had her chest groped a couple of times for "security" purposes during her trip home to visit her family over the holidays. I'm surprised she wasn't angrier about it, but then, she is Canadian.

Re: TRP: Blizzards, Bacon, and Beer

I'd say who I think this could be about, but then again, I think it will speak for itself...

(845): he was humming party in the usa while we were having sex.
