Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

Re: Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

When the GF and I went to Paris this summer no one said anything either. I think they get that the people going abroad aren't the ones MAGAing it up ;

If any Parisians had complained I would have asked who the hell designed CDG airport. What a disaster that place is.

Re: Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

It is like Grand Forks only worse :eek:

True statement. CDG is terrible, and Air France is too.
Because of the nature of our trip we rented a car, if you think CDG is confusing inside try navigating it by car. Yikes!

We spent the last night at an airport hotel (with a free shuttle) so we returned the car a day before our flight or I would have been a wreck as we tried to find our way around that labyrinth.

GF lived in Paris for a bit...she would rather walk then deal with either of us trying to drive in that town.

Having lived in GF and the SF Bay area for similar lengths of time, I'd say they have a lot in common. Highly educated population surrounded by physical beauty, and counterculture bohemian roots. They could be sister cities.

Scenery? Grass isn't scenery unless you are in Ireland.

MNS, what’s the typical ground speed of an MD90 at cruising altitude? We had a pretty good tailwind and hit over 650 mph.

Re: Travel Part 3: Destination Unknown

Not any worse than JFK though customs takes longer. A lot longer.

Yeah, well, I try to avoid JFK too.

And today, in sharp contrast to CDG, AMS has been awesome as usual. Quick, efficient, easy to navigate, friendly. I don't know why I ever book flights to Europe where I don't fly through Schipol. One of my favorite airports.

Edit: also, forgot to mention, CDG lost one of my bags on my way to Tyumen. Got to Moscow, only 1 showed up. Luckily Aeroflot is competent, and even despite a language barrier, they found my bag in Paris, called Air France on the spot, and got it on the next Aeroflot flight out of CDG. You know it's bad when you have to have the Russians fix your **** ups.
