Re: Transfers for 2012-13

Heard a rumor that a Gopher is transferring to BSU?? Anyone else hear this? Brooky? was told she is from Minnesota.

Didn't know about that but I heard a Syracuse D is heading back home to the Gophers. I heard that a Syracuse Forward is heading to Mankato too.

I hope it is a forward. BSU only lists 18 on the 12-13 roster. Rumor has it the coaches don't want the sixth liners getting too comfortable.

The lone rumor I've heard is the one to which SlewFoot refers. I haven't heard about anyone leaving for BSU...and as always, don't care to see anyone leave...but so it goes. If true I'd say it should help the Beavers...without even knowing who it could be.

Re: Transfers for 2012-13

I have also heard about the Syracuse D and that it was JB. And yes the player I heard going to BSU is a F.

Re: Transfers for 2012-13

Could be Christina LaCombe too. She started the season with Syracuse but looks like was no longer on the team by the end of the year.

Syracuse's LaCombe was injured much of her Sophmore season after a very strong freshman year.

I think the player transfers (all originally from MN) are all freshman.

Re: Transfers for 2012-13

has anyone ever seen such an exodus of players every year from one team in upstate ny.

I did hear of one freshman Gopher forward that probably won't be back next year but I'm not sure that its the same person as the one going to BSU.

Re: Transfers for 2012-13

As far as the other UCONN girl that someone else alluded to, it is my understanding that she announced that she was leaving the team, giving up hockey and returning home to go to college.

Brauer? That is my understanding too.

I was told by a player that the day after she was leaving BSU contacted her. Of coarse it could have been the other way around. I'm also sure things have to be worked out. Maybe/probably sit a year?

Any transfer within the WCHA requires sitting out a year (though using that year to practice/play with your national team is apparently allowed ).

The Gophers won't skip a beat at D with McMillin and now Burns coming in.
Hirsch is the player headed to Mankato ("Hirsh transfers to MSU from Syracuse University…In her freshman year for the Orange, Hirsch played in all 35 games and tallied two goals...".) http://www.msumavericks.com/news/2012/4/16/WHOCKEY_0416125948.aspx[/QUOTE]

Don't forget about Stecklien who is also very good.

I also heard about MSU but didn't know if it was official. She will help them. Points mean nothing as a freshman unless you play on the PP or for a team like lets say Minnesota who is loaded, scores a ton of goals, has 4 solid lines etc. etc. But yes, Syracuse must learn how to keep these players. It's almost like kids go there and then transfer to where they really want to go. I think all transfers should have to sit out a year. But of coarse rules allow it and is what it is. Good luck to all including Syracuse.

IIRC, the NCAA rules state this exemption clearly that you can sit out for this in Olympic years only and then get exempted for the doing 4 years in 5 as well. Depending on how the calendar falls you could end up doing this twice in your college career. Jenner and Agosta are examples that fit those timetables of oding it twice. Both delayed the start of their college career until the year after the olympics, and then they delay again their last year of eligibility.
