Re: Top 10 Hockey wishes for Christmas

He is so awful and overrated it's not even funny.

Last season was a complete fluke and now everyone is starting to come to their senses he was a flash in the pan and his 15 seconds of fame are up.

It would be a travesty if he selected to the team and even worse if he actually starts a game over Ryan Miller.

Jonathon Quick and Craig Anderson deserve to be on the team before Thomas.

He is 38 years old and nobody knew about him till last year for a reason...why because he IS NOT GOOD!

Heck i'd almost take DiPietro over him and this is coming from a Rangers fan...

In all seriouness though, I can't wait for the olympics. I hope the USA teams (especially the men) show up this year rather than laying an egg like they did in 2006 and '98.

Re: Top 10 Hockey wishes for Christmas

Okay, okay, fine..... I get the argument that he doesn't belong on the Olympic team, but......

I'm still having trouble getting past this being someone's #1 Christmas Hockey Wish???

Really? #!?

#9, #10, honorable mention, okay fine..... I respect the point, but #!?

Harsh!!!!

Re: Top 10 Hockey wishes for Christmas

Return to one ref. There are so few women's games that have flow. I would rather have a few infractions overlooked just to keep the game going.

Re: Top 10 Hockey wishes for Christmas

And how about him selling fish there yesterday at the Winter Classic?
Those yoga moves had him log-rollin in the crease just seconds before the game-winner. He did look silly on the goal against him, but he made the stops in the end that counted. I'm happy he made the team -- old he may be, but he still works very hard and that counts for a lot.

Re: Top 10 Hockey wishes for Christmas

Ummmmm, at my Mother-in-law's house! :D

If you're in Boston, you need to make a pit stop at Mike's Pastry on Hanover St. in the historic North End. There are 50 or so outstanding Italian restaurants surrounding this well known part of Boston, and Mike's is one of the most reputable and most frequented bakeries there.

Yes, they do make an excellent whoopie pie although canolis and other specialties are also outrageously delicious.

If you're not in town, there are a number of supermarkets that carry whoopie pies, but I would suggest window shopping the neighborhood bakeries whereever you happen to be. There is nothing like a whoopie that you know has been truly freshly baked, especially for your first experience.

Well one of your Christmas wishes came true...4 more Canadians experienced Whoopie Pies for the first time over the holidays! Can't thank you enough for the recommendation to check out Mike's Pastry in Boston.

I had to ask if they had any Whoopie Pies, as there were none out on display, and they were able to produce one from the back. We did a very scientific taste test of their WP versus Modern Pastry's, which is just down the street and had been suggested as superior to Mike's in a Boston guidebook. Happy to say all of us agreed Mike's WP was definitely better.

Personally, I can't honestly say I would go out of my way for a Whoopie Pie ( though it was good, it's simple)...but Mike's Pastry is most definitely now a must stop place whenever in Boston. Took your advice to try the cannoli's (amazing!) and also couldn't resist the pistachio macaroons. We would DEFINITELY go out of our way to get the pistachio macaroons...the best baked good I have had in my life, bar none. :) :) :) If you haven't tried them, check them out next time you get to Mike's.

What is it with Americans though that you don't seem to know the difference between PIE and CAKE. Whoopie Pies and Boston Cream Pie? :D
