Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

What is your point? He barely even writes his column anymore most of it is ghost writers especially when talking about sports he dislikes like hockey.

And since I believe the AD is inflating the renewal rate you are kind of backing up my point. He (or the guy who wrote that part) will write whatever they tell him.

Since, they are a public university, give them a call and find out.

So you want me to call the University and ask them if the numbers they put out publicly are a lie? That is like asking the forger to authenticate his own work ;) Plus, as an alum I know full well no one at that school has any idea what is going on. They have the worst bureaucracy around :)

Harley,

It is a hunch, there was a rumor earlier in the summer the number was in the 80s not 90s when it came to renewal rate %. Plus, people on GPL with waiting list numbers well past 980 got the call and were able to get tickets. Two posters in the 1100-1200 range and got the call in early August. Even better, some people had their number on the waiting list changed randomly. The Athletic Department is out to lunch right and doesnt have clue 1 what is going on. Plus it is in their best interest to lie publicly because of all the bad press they (the hockey team) have had lately. If a team that usually renews at a 99% rate drops that badly and you screw with the donation pool and seating it...well I think you can put 2 and 2 together. It isnt fact, but I take that 93% with a grain of salt.

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

You are also making the assumption that the people move up the numbers. There's still conflicting reports on whether or not the numbers are constant and they just move up like the DMV or if people's numbers move down.

I don't think there's enough reliable data available to assume a misrepresentation of fact. I wouldn't throw the AD under the bus just yet.

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

dx,

There is a lot of assumptions going on, my point is there is so much contradictory stuff who knows what to believe. Knowing what I know about the U and how it is run, I take whatever they say to be about as honest as Tom Emmers taking a drunk driving test ;) (the guy on GPL whose 2 year old was offered tickets doesnt help the ADs case either ;) )

Even if the numbers are spot on though, that is pretty putrid overall and wont improve in two years when everyone is subject to the donations.

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

this might be a good thing, let the drinking business corpi's go over to St. Paul, and let some new fans have season tickets. I will have a half a season tickets this year for the first time, and I am really looking forward to it.

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

I have, and no, you don't. I share season tickets to Clown just so I can watch WCHA hockey in person on a regular basis and the number of fans that show up for non-Gopher and non-Sioux games is often pathetic. The playoff games against the Mavs last year were especially sad.

Playoff games have always been bad because they are usually over spring break and students have to pay to get in.

The NHC is not even close to as loud and crazy as it use to be. That place use to rock for most WCHA games. Now it has become a PC Police hang out and the students can't say or do anyting any more without getting in trouble. A lot of students have just chose to stay away and so have a lot of the local fans as well.

It's funny how fans throwing batteries and glow sticks at the Gopher bench has a tendency to draw attention from the PC Police.;)

I have to agree with you TB Its still a fun place to watch a game but the level of intensity from the fans has tapered a bit due to the PC crowd .

I read where at Ohio State, if you want to tail gate for the football games, you need to donate $5000 for the parking spot. ouch.

This is what Happy meant by "read":

Hey Happy, what is the proper etiquette for how one treats a stalker? Do you send a Christmas card with or without the family letter? How about birthday cards? :D

They get rewarded with the My Number One Fan Christmas card this December. I am sure once the sugar beet harvest starts, he will be too busy to stalk me anymore. For a while I though he could be a Dirty sock puppet, but he is way too dumb, and doesn't know enough about the game of hockey to be dirty.

Hammy's Tweet today mentions that Hoeffel and Ness both turned down max offers. We talk a lot about the people who leave we should also celebrate the kids that stay in the program.

Here's hoping Ness and Hoeffel have monster years.

That is awesome. Hoeffel has always been my favorite player. This only solidifies that.

What will be a 'monster' year for Hoeffel? 35 pts?

I'm adding to the Kangas Koolaid. Gotta make sure it's rich in hope and expectations. I sure do want it to taste really good this year.
