Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

Gee why do they always have to have articles about the Gophers ? Its just not fair to UND or any of the other WCHA teams :(

Don't insult other WCHA team fans by grouping them with UND.

Looking at the Gophers schedule this year. The first 6 games are at Marriucci. If they can at least split with UNO and SCSU they'll be off to solid start. I am not sure how UMASS is looking this year, but is it really never easy to pull out a win in your building. That is a great situation to be in with a young roster. I have a feeling this team will excell under the low expectations. How your team looks on paper doesn't mean anything.

Well with an attitude like that, I'm glad I peed in your Cheerios this morning.

My personal record is three and half feet from the bowl with no overspray. Bet you can't beat that B^tch Dirty!:p

Yep...the lower the expectations, the better the Goofs look...

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

It only works when the players are healthy and sitting around waiting for their chance.
The last time MN had a big roster, players left the program due to lack of playing time. :p

Yep, Dorr and Scott. Players also got hurt that year and wooosh the depth was gone.

This year I'm curious as to what happens if one of the frosh comes in playing not so well and loses all his playing time to one of the three vet walk-ons. Will we have another Lofquist happen? I hope not.

It wouldn't suprise me if it did in fact it probably will happen.:p

Not a Gopher fan but nice thread title!

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

With Jay being named captain and Aaron Marvin still roaming the WCHA, I wouldn't count on it.

This is true. St. Cloud plays the Gophers before Marvin receives the Steve Moore treatment. I'm sure Hak is practicing his Marc Crawford smirk already.

Who gets their knee injured during the Michigan game this year?

We arnt really that young though I think our average age is like 20. We have some vetrans to go with all those freshmen. I hope you are right the expectations are not high for this team maybe with the spotlight being off them they will perform better

Re: Time to drop a deuce: the second MN Gopher Offseason Thread

Apparently a lot of returning players have been working out hard in the weight room this summer and put on some muscle mass.

I'd love to see a Hoeffel/Sacchetti/Budish "CRASH THE NET" power line.

Hoeffel - 6'2", 205 lbs. (+8 lb.)
Sacchetti - 6'0", 193 lbs. (+7 lbs.). Most improved player on points and very consistent on faceoffs Ws last season.
Budish - 6"3', 221 lbs.

In terms of age and size, this an older and bigger (and hopefully more physical) team this year with an average age close to 21.

We have seen glimpses of Budishes physical potential but its time for him to get an attitude and start banging people. He has the tools to play at the next level . I hope he has a breakout season :)

So do I dude. Sacchetti is also a guy to watch too. He's probably not going to score 20G but he gives 100% and really improved his game last season. To quote Bruce Buffer with UFC, "It'sssssssss..........TIMEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!" (for this team to kick some *).

In addition to having a great hockey name Sacchetti ( Wonder if his mom sends him pasties and patitza from da range ) Sachetti has improved alot and I agree he does give a 100%
