This Week In Hockey East - Volume III: A Return to Order or More Chaos?

Captain's practices starting shortly and the new season just a month away. Will there be a continuation of last season's craziness or will things settle down?

in D3 not sure why the cache can't be with their teams earlier than around mid october

also the NCAA does not allow any exhibition games don't understand why

you'd think that htese games would be good for each team and give the coach real good look at the girls

i also notice that a lot of schools are creating new teams in the ACHA league. I know this league is not part of the NCAA and does not have to fllow any oftheir rules

I gues this is one way to beat the NCAA

I'm just going to go on the record and say that UNH will get home ice come playoff time....comeback or surprise team, the Wildcats will be the team that no one wants to play! With absolutely no expectations, they can relax and just play hockey again....Coach Witt has the same outlook, with no pressure and the chance to create her mark with a historic program....should be a fun year!!

Re: This Week In Hockey East - Volume III: A Return to Order or More Chaos?

A few senior goaltenders graduated. Should be interesting how BU, BC and UVM play with out their leaders in net.

I think a lot of people are underestimating UVM. As noted, they are losing their Sr goalie, as are BC and BU. NU has an advantage there. UVM has a pretty good OOC schedule and is returning almost all of their scoring. Last but not least let's not forget Coach Plumer and what he did at Amherst. This is his third year now at UVM and he has totally turned the program around in a relatively short period. UVM finished last year with 27 points and NU and BU both had 28. I think BC will be no. 1 but 2nd, 3rd and 4th are a toss-up in my opinion.

This year will be tougher for UVM. BC, BU and NU are getting back significant talent from the Olympics. UVM isn't. I have a lot of respect for Plumer (and his blog is very interesting) but I expect to see UVM drop back a little.
