This Article Says It All

Knock yourself out. I'm sure we could get a petition together in regards to your continued presence on these boards...

I think I'm allowed to opinions per the TOA, unless they've been recently re-written.

As long as it is on-topic and not a personal attack, I believe we all are ;)

I believe that trolling is against the rules and you are by far the worst troll we've had since I've been here.

Beyond worthless and actually a net-negative. Congrats, I guess...

Really? Because it appears to me that you're trolling a thread I started, not vice versa.

If my team got its butts kicked 6-1 and embarrassed on national TV in its last game, I'd probably shut my mouth for a while...

Congrats on being the guy to most completely miss the point of the thread.

And BTW, you've tried pushing that button before. Multiple times. Doesn't phase me. It was one game, in one year of our program's 116 year history.

You might want to re-read the above article from your school's newspaper again and take better notes ;)

Bud, I know Brown hockey sucks and I don't care. I also know your team is overrated and it makes me smile.

… the Gophers are one of five in-state D1 schools now …
But there was a time when they were one of one in-state D1 schools, at least of any prominence. Which is precisely why this accomplishment gets more attention from a few rabid fans than it really deserves. In fact, Minnesota should be embarrassed that they didn’t win more championships than they did, when they had a hockey-rich state with a large population virtually to themselves.

Who else had large hockey playing populations? Michigan? Michigan, Michigan State, and Michigan Tech competing for local talent. New England? Smaller population, and established programs at BU, BC, Northeastern, Harvard, Princeton, Dartmouth, and Yale (probably leaving some out there) competing for local talent.

Not trying to be rude here because I actually appreciate the serious discussion. But, your points would be more valid had Minnesota High School hockey been then what it is today. It wasn't. It is what it is today because of the opportunities afforded to local players by the Gophers.

I will agree with you on this. The Gophers 2002 championship with only Americans isn't as impressive as Minnesota's or Boston College's titles with only Americans in past eras.

Fact remains, while most schools at the time were recruiting 20 year-old freshmen from Canada, Minnesota was giving opportunities to 18 year-old local boys. And yes, that was a recruiting disadvantage.

Look at the rosters of those Tech teams the Gophers played in the mid 70's. Look at the Gopher rosters. Look at where the players were from, then their ages. Same with North Dakota in 1979. And the Gopher's roster in 1979.

Again, not faulting any other program for not doing the same, but let's give the Gophers some credit for taking the tough road that eventually paid off for Minnesota hockey as a whole.

Just to let you know, I think this black guy is really going to win the Democratic nomination over Hillary. Oh, and this recession isn't going away anytime soon.
