THE University of MICHIGAN 2021-22

You are assuming that the team was not involved with the decision. Could be that they were ignored, could be that they had a team meeting over it. They are getting the ice time tomorrow, anyway- so it's not as if they are totally not getting ice time.

Read into it however you want, though. The distaste for Michigan can't get much worse than it was before the games.

You are correct. I did assume that Michigan's remaining players did not go to the coach and beg out of the WMU game because they were concerned for their own well-being.

They play two games a week...and even with 21 skaters and 3 goalies...an extra game would create wear and tear?
It comes off as scared. The fans should care that their program looks gutless.
I believe they have 17 skaters based on the Twitter feed from the Michigan Daily, so I can understand not wanting to play on back to back nights. Not that I agree with it but I do get it. Even with the roster fillers it's not that great. But given it's at your barn you could have just postponed a day could you not?

It seems reasonable, to me, especially when you see so many games across the country being canceled for COVID.

19 days since they played, 9 more until they play again. I'd love to be in the room to tell the players they'll be too tired.

Honestly, I really don't care if you think the program is gutless.

And therein lies the issue. The skunks and their fans never think the rules apply to them if they don't like them. And they don't care how wrong they are ever, as long as they have their self worth.

You're right. It isn't like U of MI is a co-host of the GLI or offered Yost up as a place to play GLI games. Could it be, because they have a history avoid playing teams and/or honoring their scheduling commitments? (cough cough series in Houghton cough cough.) Perception and past history tends to play into current views.

To be fair, no one outside of WMU and MTU hockey fans will care. All that matters is U of MI Football is in the BCS playoff and won the B1G. There is little to no clamor over U of MI basketball stumbling out of the gate because no one cares right now. It is all football right now.

What "rules"? Seems that you are more bothered by the idea that we just don't care what you think about Michigan. There's no point at all to try to convince you the positives of Michigan- that's a complete waste of time and effort by anyone.

You seem to be like every other program other than MSU that you seem to matter about being some kind of "rival"- you are not. There is ONE program in the country that is a real hockey rival to Michigan, and that's State. That's it. And that does not mean that we don't respect other teams- it's just that we don't consider anyone other than Sparty as an actual rival.

Love playing Tech, as my dad went there. Love playing the Gophers, as they are an elite program. Love playing Western as they have consistently given us great games. Love playing OSU- well, maybe not- they suck. But none of those programs are rivals in spite of what you want to think.

You can pretend that I'm wrong all you want, but I'll never consider Tech or Western rivals. Ever. Which means what you think of Michigan is incredibly meaningless. (not that State's opinion matters, but you get my point- at least you should).

So it would be hard to care less that you think we are "soft" or whatever you want to think.

If you say so.

Literally there's nothing I can post that can change your mind- it's all done and dusted.

BTW, last I checked, Michigan Hockey fans are well aware that we are 3rd in popularity order at our school. Again, that's a bigger deal to you than to me. So thanks for caring?

I hope anyone approached about playing a non-conference series with the skunks in the future pays close attention to this situation and declines.

That would be a great way to show how much everyone else cares about them.

There is a long way to go and I will assume that both will be in the tourney field and my wish is for the NCAA selection committee to have a sense of karma and put Michigan and Western in the same bracket so they will have their "rubber" game.

I'm sorry, but that's just silly. You want to penalize Michigan Hockey because we don't really care what you think of us? Seriously?

At least give some of us credit for actually KNOWING and accepting that you and most of the country hates Michigan. There's no point in really caring about what other team's fans think of us. None what so ever. As if you could hate the program any more than you already do. You already call us something other than our mascot, as if it's some kind of clever thing to do...

And for other teams to put any program on some kind of pedestal- making the game more important... we all play with the same restrictions- same number of players on the bench, same number of scholarships, etc. We are all the same.

If the numbers work out, so be it. Still have to win 4 games to win an NC.

So then why don't YOU explain why you don't deserve to forfeit the game against Western. It's scheduled, the Broncos are ready to play. I've seen no mention of rescheduling. Why shouldn't you be charged with a forfeit if you can't play the game?

I'm ok with that. Although, I'm not sure why that explanation is on MY shoulders. You seem to think that it bothers me somehow. It clearly bothers you much, much, much more than me, and we are still playing your team. Give you an opportunity- if you win both games, you can claim a GLI victory again.

If this was a COVID cancelation, well, it would be treated very differently.
