The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

What possible benefit to anybody could Simpson have by coming to UND next season? Our D-corps is already going to be freaking loaded with Mattson and Forbort coming in, and assuming Genoway stays, there will be no departures.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

I think we'll have to beat DU or UW in the F5 to grab a #1 seed.

what about facing both? that's a possibility. that would be a hard F5 for the Sioux, and would have some good effect on the PWR.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

thanks...just found it. didn't know how much time I would have left at work to find it.

That dude is going to have a huge target on him as long as he is playing. Against the Sioux and the Badgers now too. Could be interesting watching those games from now on...perhaps a new (or renewed) rivalry.

Talk about the 2 worst teams to want to have your head on a platter.

He hit Wisconsin's Geoffrion in the head and he ended up with a concussion.
They should have sat Marvin for the rest of the season. There's no place in college hockey for that kind of BS play. Multiple players in a single season is too much!

My fear is that he will go to DU next season like Wiercioch did because UW didn't have room for him on the roster.

THE ONLY, I repeat, THE ONLY reason Wiercioch ended up at DU is because of what happened to David Carle. If that didn't happen, Wiercioch would NOT have ended up at DU because they wouldn't have had room for him last season. And I believe Simpson signed on with the knowledge that he likely would come in 2011.

I think we just have to have a little faith Hak and the staff know what they're doing.

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Chay Genoway doesn't come back next year. I have personally believed he might even try to suit up this weekend, or possibly next, either for the last home regular season games for the seniors, or the last home games of the year. I just don't think Chay is interested in coming back for another year of college hockey.

Next, it would not surprise me to see at least one of the underclassmen leave for the pros. LaPoint is the most likely candidate imho.

LaPoint the most likely to leave early? I would disagree...imho he has never gotten back to the level that he was at before his injury. Pretty inconsistent and he and Blood are in the running for the slowest skating defenseman.

More WCHA weekly awards. This is the 3rd straight week with 2 award winners.

UND's winning streak continues to produce players of the week.

For the second week in a row, Brad Eidsness is the defensive player of the week. Eidsness has a .942 save percentage in the last five games and has not allowed more than two goals in that span. Eidsness currently ranks second in the WCHA in goals-against average.

For the second time this season, Danny Kristo is the WCHA's rookie of the week. Kristo scored a goal each night against Colorado College, getting the game-winner on Saturday night. Kristo ranks second in the WCHA in rookie scoring.

This is the third straight week that UND has had multiple player of the week winners.

Great Olympic tribute/ovation for Captain Serious tonight before the home Hawks game. Could end up being the best you ever turned out.

In the twenty years or so that I've watched Sioux hockey, Toews is one of a handful of players that left me awestruck more often than not.

He has a ways to go before becoming the best Sioux ever to play in the pros, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he wound up on top of that podium.

No doubt he has a ways, but there's something about him that says that the potential is there.

Definitely a Sioux that as a Badger fan I always respected and as a Hawks fan I love having on my team.

What's nice about Toews is that he just does his job, very well, and rarely gloats/showboats etc. Then the second that you think he's just going to dump it into the zone and chase, he pulls off about a half dozen amazing moves and puts one in the net. He's a blast to watch.

I wish there were more clips of his time at UND, because he had a few different goals that were similar to that.

Re: The UND Discussion Thread - We Miss Chay

I learned something last night I did not know.

I knew Ralph Engelstad played high school hockey at Thief River Falls before attending UND. What I didn't know is that Ralph was one of the two starting goaltenders in the very first Minnesota State High School hockey championship game. His Thief River Falls club was edged by the powerful group from Eveleth.
