The Truth About The Cats and Dogs - BU/UNH 11/20 and 11/21

Re: The Truth About The Cats and Dogs - BU/UNH 11/20 and 11/21

Took a glimpse at the BU season thread. Could someone give a concise run-down of who from BU will likely be out this weekend? Could be an x-factor that swings the games in UNH's favor, as it seems like BU has about 6 players dressing right now.

Last Saturday for BU only Warsofsky (Hip Adductor Strain), Chiasson (Bruised Jaw) and Ruikka (Torn ACL out for year, but he was the teams 8th defenseman so he wouldn't have really affected this series either way) didn't play due to injuries and Parker's comments indicated that both Warsofsky and Chiasson could be back this weekend as they were going to practice and he'd see how they felt after. Yesterday Connolly separated his shoulder, timeframe unknown. So realistically BU could be down anything from 30% of their powerplay to just missing the 8th defenseman.

Also Bonino only played Saturday of last weekend because Parker said he wasn't in good enough shape to play games on back to back days after missing two weeks with his own shoulder injury, I would assume after a full week of practice he can now go both games this weekend.

Not really sure what you're confused about here...

I had a good view at the game live and saw many replays, it was a penalty.
I had no problems with your post, I was just arguing that using comments from right after the game might not be the best indicator, as people are posting mostly out of emotion at that point.

NBD I understood your point. I never had an ax to grind with JVR (as you pointed out the other 2 did), I like everybody wished he was more for UNH. I really saw it as another chance to rant about situational ref’ing that makes me a little crazy – just call the game by the book (in every game) the players and coaches will adjust.

it was my poor attempt at sarcastically saying there are so many injuries right now, i have no idea what our injury report looks like anymore. emphasis on poor.

so since you UNH-ers "got rid" of Wild E Cat, can you bring this guy back?

Funny thing, I was sitting next to two, middle-aged BU fans throughout the game. We were in the front row on the blue line to the right of Foster. Nice guys..enjoyed chatting with them. Anyway, after the penalty was called on JVR I asked them "Do the refs usually make that call with two minutes left in a tie game?" Without hesitating, they said "No, not usually."

Are you kidding me?

Re: The Truth About The Cats and Dogs - BU/UNH 11/20 and 11/21

I described the two gents as "BU fans" not "rabid BU fans." My post succeeded in drawing out the rabid fans and energizing this thread. I thought the JVR "hooking" could have gone either way which is why I called it a borderline call. The larger point is that even a clearly superior team, like last year's edition of BU, has to benefit from some positive breaks in order to win the one-and-done NCAA tournament.

I'll agree with that last sentence. Look at MSU in 2007 against BC. BC against Miami in the regionals in 2008 when they were getting smoked and held the fort and came down and scored. Wisconsin going to multiple OTs vs. Cornell in 2006.

BU did get a lot of small breaks in March and April but they deserved them.

Any BU folks order tickets for tonight's game through the ticket office and not get them? I ordered mine, was charged for it and it never showed up.

Are either of these games on the boob tube?

Shot in the dark...

At the Championship game in DC, my friend and I were in the WAYYYYY back row of the Verizon Center; very top, watching Miami rip our hearts out. We were covered in tears and despair. The two dudes next to us were waring UNH jerseys. Nothing could be worse than losing 3-1 in a championship game and having HE rival schools colors there to remind you of the ribbing you are about to take for losing this game... but they only had words of support and encouragement. "If our team was out there, we'd want all the Hockey East support we could get. This game aint over yet!" one said. And they proceeded to cheer for BU with us as loudly and vociferously as they could for the rest of the game. I'll never forget looking over and seeing UNH jersey-clad fans chanting and clapping "GO BU! GO BU!" with as much conviction as a real Terrier fan. When we tied the game, they went totally bananas and were *almost* as happy as we BU fans were.

Anyways, didnt mean to bore the rest of the thread, just wondering if any of you posters happen to be one of those two UNH guys who made it down to DC, if so, I believe I promised you a beer or two when UNH visits Agganis. And here we are.

I was indeed one of those guys. I'm not ashamed to admit on here that we did cheer vociferously for BU in the FF :D
We'll be at both games this weekend, but not rooting for BU this time!

Nice one Beaner and Rock!

Coupla quick points;

- radio on tape delay 'cuz of bball??!! Ahem, but that's a defending D1 National Champ you are deferring there.

- should be fascinating to see Warso up front for this one hope it means more pts and may increase his pro chances in the long run.

- how does the Warsofsky move affect the d pairings and power play?

Cohen-Shattenkirk
Rosen-Gryba
Escobedo-Nicastro

I'd expect Warso to be on the top PP unit as a forward. When they practiced the PP on Wed, he was out there w/ Bonino, Chiasson, Shatty and Colby. More interestingly, he was setting up at the top of the crease.

Also, weekly reminder that we'll be live blogging both games this weekend.
