The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

Re: The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

200 million per year out of a 58 billion annual budget is about 1/2 of 1 percent.

But yes, big scary numbers are big and scary.

How many schools could be funded with that $200MM/year? If they were to tighten controls, I would expect a roughly $15MM/year in increased expenditures, but that's still saving some $185MM/year. You can fund schools, or just update textbooks for schools already in operation. It may not be much compared to the overall budget, but it's still no paltry sum of cash.

Fixed your post.

You're not going to save 185 million, because you're never going to reduce fraud/waste/error to 0.

Reducing such things is laudable, but let's not make mountains out of molehills. I personally like how the linked article aggregated 6 years of data just to hit the billion dollar mark for effect.

I didn't read this as fraud issues, rather the state was not coordinating benefits correctly with private insurers. No, you'll never reduce all errors in payments like these, but you can drastically reduce it.

Good.

Re: The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

Apparently the crowd chanted “build that wall” at the rally tonight. He also said he’ll easily win Minnesota in 2020.

So embarrassing

Re: The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

Won't stop every Scooby in town from saying he will... Which is fine it gets the lazy to vote.

If he couldn't win against Hillary he won't against anyone else.

This is truth. I'm gonna think that the Dems will be better prepared this time around.

Re: The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

I don't think it'll happen either but I don't necessarily think it's a slam dunk. Trump lost by 1.5 percent here despite making only a single afterthought campaign stop.

And that was against (arguably) the worst possible candidate for the Dems.

I mean, MN voted for Mondale. Remember that.
