Re: The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

Shock of Shocks DNC Chair Perez ticked off the Progressive Wing again by endorsing Cuomo. This clown is going to screw up everything he touches. And yes Kepler I know you respect him but screw this crap you are a friggin Bernie Bro and this guy wants nothing to do with you. If the DNC blows this Election Season it will be because of him and his cronies.

Clinton did the same thing. Their best bet was to stay out of it and let the voters decide. This is really really really ****ing dumb.

First off, I'm not a f-cking Bernie Bro. I'm an economic liberal who wants to see us return to high social mobility, even if that means socialist policies. But I'm a Democrat, not a third partier.

I (obviously) acknowledge the problem of the DNC mainstream shutting out economic liberals, but in this case Cynthia Nixon is a sideshow eejit and I would endorse a centrist over her.

There is no reason to have a public p-ssing contest between Rover Dems and Kepler Dems. We've got a bigger problem now. My order of battle is:

1. Kill Dump
2. Kill the GOP WITH FIRE
3. Kill the Rover Dems

In each case I will play kissy kissy with the targets lower down on the list to kill the higher targets.

Yeah... a dude who works on others' elections in PA and has even ran himself called it after Perez got the job. Bad news. It's also hilarious that abuela has mentioned wanting more women in power and then came out of hiding to endorse Cuomo over Nixon.

Whether she is a side show or not the DNC cannot play favorites all it does is feed the rhetoric against them. Why this clown felt it was a good idea to endorse someone (when he is trying to unify a divided party) before the Primaries is beyond me. Let the voters make their choice stay the bleep out of it. All he has done now is tick off the people who feel the system is rigged and that worked out oh so well in 2016 when the Dems did that.

There wouldnt be a public ****ing contest if he just shut his mouth and let the system play out. HE created a problem because HE miscalculated. When Nixon loses now any chance the IDC comes back or the Progressives dont throw a fit is nil. Whoever told him this was a good idea should be fired and if he came up with it on his own it backs my belief that he was the exact wrong person to be in charge of the party.

Re: The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

They're always going to play favorites, they just suck at picking the favorites and are clearly doing it on an ideological basis.

100% correct. He needed to stay the **** out of it and let New York decide. Now he's royally ****ed up. Clinton can do whatever she wants. Any other Democrat can do what they want endorsement wise. But Perez, and Ellison need to stay the **** out of the fights.

That's fair. For the record Perez is a very savvy guy so I think he was likely forced into the endorsement by circumstances. He's not the kind of guy who makes unforced errors.

I would be all for a firebrand TRUE LIBERAL DNC chair, but (1) nobody with any political ambition is going to step willingly into that meat grinder -- it's our equivalent of being a GOP Speaker, you can only fail, and (2) I'd prefer to save our firebrand TRUE LIBERALS to run high profile campaigns anyway. I don't want to waste Gavin Newsom, or even Keith Ellison, in that thankless role. I like Perez because he's an utterly unelectable technocrat who also knows what he's doing. Howard Dean is not walking through that door, so for now I'm OK with him. At the very least he has the instituitonal knowledge and chutzpah to tell Hillary where to get off if she ever darkens our doorway again. He's not some b-tch like Kaine or McAuliffe.

Who would have forced him though? Isn’t he in charge?
He can’t be doing these things in the lead up to November

This move is anything but savvy. This move is DUMB.

Re: The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

jfc. Look at this ****.

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/05/24/tom-perez-andrew-cuomo-primary-endorsements-607799

In March, when asked on C-SPAN about backing candidates in House primaries, Perez said the DNC should not endorse, as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee had started doing.

“One thing we’ve learned at the DNC is that when you, in fact or in perception, are trying to put the thumb on the scale in a spirited primary, that can undermine public confidence in us,” Perez said.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez has said repeatedly that the national party shouldn’t, and won’t, endorse in primaries. But on Thursday, he stood on a Long Island stage and endorsed Andrew Cuomo, the New York governor who is facing a challenge from actress Cynthia Nixon.

The decision to pick favorites in a primary pits the DNC chair against the DNC deputy chair, Keith Ellison. And it has re-opened an ongoing internal fight within the party, while giving critics ammunition to question Perez’s leadership.

Perez called Cuomo and his lieutenant governor running mate Kathy Hochul “charter members of the accomplishment wing of the Democratic Party” — seeming to echo a knock that Cuomo himself has made against Nixon and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio — and “that’s why I’m proud to endorse them."

Ellison was not on board with the decision. He was not told in advance about Perez’s decision to endorse Cuomo, a person familiar with the matter said.

Asked about Perez backing Cuomo, Ellison said in a statement, “The Democratic Party should not intervene in the primary process. It is our role to be fair to all contestants and let the voters decide.”

Re: The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

Yeah it serves no purpose. Nixon most likely isnt going to win just step back and let her get her moment and be done with it. Same thing the DNC should have done with Bernie. Bernie was never going to win so just let him make his speeches, and have him lose without a hint of impropriety.

The only way he could have been forced into it is if internal polling is showing Cuomo in serious trouble. If that is the case then they have bigger issues anyways.

The stupidest part of the whole thing was the Ellison part. Ellison speaks out against the endorsement (saying the DNC should just stay out of it) and the DNC then comes back with "remember we stood behind you when the Farakan story came back again" to get him in line. Jesus how sleezy can these people get.

It is stuff like this which is why I will never register as a Dem. I may vote for them but I will never join that clown circus of a party. They could screw up getting laid in a whore house with $100k in their pocket.

edit: Scooby read the WaPo article I posted the whole thing is stupid.

Re: The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

About sums up why I think it was terrible to pick Perez over Ellison.

Re: The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

GOP Machine is going to steamroll this **** again in 2018 if Perez doesn't ****ing wake the **** up.

"The Accomplishment Wing" what an absolutely stupid name. Jesus if I was a Progressive in NYC I would walk away from the DNC too they have no respect for anything that isnt Clintonista Style Centrist. At least the DFL Party here actually is to the Left.

Re: The States: Why does Minnesota wanna be Kansas?

Anyone else worried the DNC is fracturing like the RNC? Because I am.

Have they become permanent Florida residents (aka, citizens of Florida)?

If they have, this guy is a jackwagon.
If not, could I grab a hotel room in Moorhead or Breckenridge on a Monday night and vote in a Tuesday Minnesota election?
