I love when Darwin gets the last word, but not when it’s babies who are too young to be vaccinated. There are going to be good parents who plan on vaccinating their kids but if they get it before they are old enough…

this is why the rest of the population needs to be vaccinated and why I hope Ohio esp gets a meteor strike soon
 
There's a reason we won't let our future children be around anyone without vaccinations. That's not our call, it's their call.

Some people would call these hard discussions with family. I don't think so. Fuck you. I'm not letting you near my child with a machete, why would I let you near them with an unvaccinated Petri dish?

We recently had a family gathering with a lot of old people and thank god my unvaccinated cousins stayed away- shocking given that they’re usually anywhere with a free meal since they’re all losers

side note, at this family gathering (not a holiday gathering btw) I met the grandchild of a former klan grand wizard. To this persons credit, he doesn’t share any beliefs and doesn’t talk about it, is from the south and seems like a nice person but Yeesh. Married to a distant relative of mine
 
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Authorities in Pennsylvania arrested a suspect in the killings of four University of Idaho students who were found stabbed to death in their beds more than a month ago, a law enforcement official said Friday.

Arrest paperwork filed in Monroe County Court said Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28, was being held for extradition to Idaho on a warrant for first degree murder.


The killings initially mystified law enforcement and shook the small town of Moscow, Idaho, a farming community of about 25,000 people that had not had a murder for five years. Fears of a repeat attack prompted nearly half of the University of Idaho’s over 11,000 students to leave the city and switch to online classes.


A law enforcement official confirmed the arrest to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the official could not publicly discuss details of the investigation ahead of a formal announcement expected later Friday.

A Ph.D. student by the same name is listed in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Washington State University, which is a short drive across the state line from the University of Idaho. Messages seeking more information were left for officials at WSU. DeSales University in Pennsylvania confirmed that a student by that name received a bachelor’s degree in 2020 and completed graduate studies in June 2022.

If I were of child-bearing age and female I'd find a way to leave. Beg. Borrow. Steal. Whatever. Your life is at risk just having a semi-functional uterus in these states.

I know im saying this from a position of privilege, but my god. We're well into nuclear territory here and I have to think I'd find a way.
 
Problem is that not everyone can just pick up and move, even doctors. Independent practices take years to build and overhead costs in civilized blue states are higher, even if you form a partnership with other physicians. Most doctors don't start a practice until their early 30s, so they're fortysomething by the time they've paid off their massive student loans. And that's assuming they're financially responsible, which many MDs are not. The siren song of buying a Benzo, or a Porsche, or some other luxury toy to reward oneself and keep up appearances is strong.

Fact is, even successful people who make six figures put themselves in situations that make moving cross-country difficult.

It's not as hard as you think. Most hospital systems are happy to "buy up" a patient panel from a private practice, and a private practitioner will have little difficulty being hired by a hospital system's professional services org (if they are a GP), or whatever other service they practice in. Sure, they'd go from being a generally independent small business owner to a W2 employee and all that comes with that change, but it isn't super difficult logistically.

I've been tangentially involved with these sale contracts (from the perspective of a hospital org buying a private practice). Yes they're complicated, but not absurdly.

The biggest issue to overcome, all things being equal, is whether the owner(s) of said private practice would be happy as a staff physician in a brand new area.

You left off the crucial part at the end: “…a brand new area that actually offers comprehensive health care for women.”
 
Republicans in Ottawa County took over the Board of Commissioners, and proceeded to do away with the department of DEI and changed the slogan from "where you belong" to "where freedom reigns."

While i do feel bad for my friends in Ottawa County, I want the people of Ottawa County to learn what "fuck around and find out" means.
