In that order? *shock face*
No, in order it was actually ambulance, hooker bus, pick up. Also, when I originally posted, I forgot that there was also a very short ride in a police cruiser in there, between the ambulance ride and the hooker bus.
He walked out of the bar, and started walking back to our vehicle which was parked in a lot next to the Sheraton. Our plan was to drive to Mobile, Alabama, to play golf the next morning.
When he got about two blocks from the bar, he was approached by someone who supposedly wanted to sell him drugs. My friend claims he said no, continued to walk, and was struck on the head by a blackjack or another blunt object, causing him to be knocked out.
Luckily, or unluckily for him, it happened about 50 feet in front of an unmarked squad car. The two cops immediately arrested the drug dealer, but strangely enough, my unconscious friend was still robbed of his watch, credit cards and cash.
He was taken by ambulance to the local hospital. A couple of hours later the cops showed up and talked to him. He made the mistake of telling them he was supposed to be going with friends to Mobile. They hauled him to the bus stop, purchased a ticket for a one way to Mobile (I assume with his own cash), and forced him to get on, even though he repeatedly told them he was supposed to meet us at the car.
The bus contained about twenty passengers, all young women, all returning to Alabama after a weekend of "work" in the Quarter. One of them was kind enough, however, to share half her ham sandwich with my penniless friend.
The bus dropped him off at the Mobile bus station, but that was about five miles from the hotel where we were to be staying that night. He had no cash, so he tried to hitch a ride. His clothing was soaked in blood, the front of his shirt had been sliced open from top to bottom by the ambulance crew, he had three staples in his bloody head, and his eyes were the deepest shade of red I've ever seen. Needless to say, he didn't get a lot of takers for the hitchhiking.
Finally, a guy with a pick up truck told him he'd give him a ride, but only if he rode in the bed.
