The States: Where We Wish Texas Would Secede Already

The local election here in Anchorage was today (well, today was when ballots were due since we vote by mail).

Our conservative mayor, tired of having appointments rejected and his vetos overridden, enlisted four hand picked candidates for our Assembly and two for the school board. They all fundraised together and had a central campaign together. They also spent a fuckton of money on ads, tv, radio, print, an unheard of thing for Assembly elections. What did they get for all this money and effort?

A razor thin lead (>2%) in one seat and some solid a-kickings in the others (leads by 8 points to 16 points). The razor thin lead could be overcome by the remaining ballots and the others aren’t expected to change much.

Even if the conservatives win that seat the liberal bloc will still have a veto proof majority.

One of the candidates had ads on tv for over two weeks, even one during the Final Four, and she’s the one down 16 points.

According to TN Republicans, age requirements for marriage are just too pesky.

My fiance was just talking about maybe buying retirement property down there in the future, because she has some extended family there. After this, not to mention the gigantic fucking Confederate flag I saw flying next to I-40 between Nashville and Knoxville in 2022, that idea is getting a hard "FUCK NO" from me until they get out of their current Dark Ages tilt (if ever).

We heard that real estate is just as hot down there as it is everywhere else, but frankly unless you're a IT/engi-nerd Dumpy leaving the cities so you can make fun of BLM with your neighbors, fondle your guns, and rape your wife, even with the better weather and lower taxes, I can't see the appeal. The absurd legislation they're now pushing along with the rest of the derpy states is out of control.

Now Ohio has their own "Don't Say Gay" coming through.

Yeah and when the press was trying to get the sponsor of the bill to talk she ran away faster than a Trumper when a Black Man looks in his direction. It is one thing to be a bigot, it is another to be a fucking coward.
