Re: The States: Where We Wish Texas Would Secede Already

I think, and I admit I might be giving that state and its morons a bit too much credit for once, that yesterday ****ed off the liberals to the point of no return.

Narrator: He was giving them too much credit

Yeah, it's been around a few years now and I can't figure out why it's suddenly surged into overuse in the last several months.

Cause old people like Kepler latched on. It is like when your parents start using Facebook or Twitter ;)

Sure, reconvene at the peak to debate another extension.

Re: The States: Where We Wish Texas Would Secede Already

But mail-in ballots can be compromised! The GOP made sure to illustrate that in NC!

Re: The States: Where We Wish Texas Would Secede Already

Come November, Biden might want to find a third state after Michigan and Pennsylvania to flip because even if the virus is mostly gone five polling places for 600,000 people in Milwaukee is probably going to become normalcy.

I agree. Although I don't blame Wisconsin's governor for this, I'm curious if he expected a different outcome. If he was expecting A) the GOP legislature to do the right thing, or B) the GOP courts to do the right thing, and he didn't have a backup plan that's a problem. Calling up the National Guard to man polling places is a good idea but it seems every move he made was kind of last minute and that gives the courts an easy excuse to rule against him. Start planning NOW (absentee ballots mailed out, maximum # of polling places available, etc) for the November election.

Evers doesn't deserve blame, but I don't think he was very smart the way he handled it. It's true he doesn't have many cards to play with at present, but he ought to have come out strong weeks earlier stressing the need to move the date in order to save lives. Might not have changed the outcome, but it would have improved the Ds' position politically. As it is, it is very easy for Rs to say his administration and the D party just mismanaged the whole affair. And that has implications for this fall in a state where a feather's weight could be the difference.

It is true, as somebody mentioned, that the awful SCt decisions arising out of this mess could anger and motivate Ds this fall. The margins are likely so thin that it is difficult to know at this point. It is not difficult to tell whether people's voting rights and lives have been put at risk. I'm embarrassed it is happening in my state. It does, however, give me and others I know even more reason to hit the phone banks and knock on doors this fall.
