The States : red states in a race to the bottom

Skeptical of who? Anyone who blames outside agitators?

I don’t find this far fetched at all.

Yes. It's been the racist cry of people wanting to crack skulls since the civil rights era.

while it's true that there may be non-students participating, they make up a small fraction of the protestors.

Well yes, duh, that I’m aware of.

but I also have fond memories of being on campus for the riots of 02-03 and def had a contingent of outsiders who explicitly came in to cause trouble. It’s even easier to do that now with social media.

so no I’m not dumb enough to believe what Eric adams says (and I’m not going to click on whatever link kep shared) but I don’t think it’s far fetched that some outsiders have figured out how to cause issues. Both republicans and Russians would salivate at our college students becoming anti Biden and not voting

I'm immediately skeptical of anyone using "outside agitators".

Forget the Floyd riots already?

I don't buy Adams version...that guy is a fascist. But going back to the beginning it was obvious students weren't behind a lot of the more violent rhetoric. The fact that they are parroting Putin trolls on SM backs it up.

I don't think you know what outside agitators do. They aren't large numbers they just rile up the ones who are there. Remember when the Boogaloos were found in Minneapolis trying to get BLM to destroy crap? Same thing.

The students are legit...but I bet we are a couple weeks away from finding out people who don't align with liberal views are making things worse. This stinks of Proud Boy dbag nonsense.

Again i don't buy the version of the story the fascists are spewing...but they are definitely projecting they always are.

wait, this is about the bike lock thing? LMFAO. (I don't have a WSJ account so I can't read the article.)

This has already been blown up. This was the exact model of bike lock that Columbia told their students to buy earlier this year.

It's about more than that...that's just the bs the WSJ is going with.

Plenty of liberal sources on SM are starting to believe. The Right is playing the protestors. It's nothing new they did it in the 60s as well. Make the peaceful protestors less peaceful and kill the movement.

A large Jewish law firm filed a really interesting suit last night on behalf of some American and Israeli victims from October and they actually accuse one of the big student groups here in the US of having ties to Hamas

Oy...that should end well.

BTW ABC News posted this:

https://www.threads.net/@abcnews/pos...2lUDuU4TZ_k6Hw

NEW: Approximately 134 of the 282 people taken into custody at the City College of New York and Columbia University on Tuesday were not affiliated with either school, based on a preliminary background analysis by the NYPD.

The schools have been backing up some of this as well. I bet more than a few are Trumpers...

And it sounds like the U got their encampment to stand down.

BTW in case anyone is wondering I fully support the encampments and the protests.

I'm not sure, cause I couldn't read the article either, but the cops are saying IT HAS to be outside agitators cause "look at what they chained the doors with!!! No student would carry around something like that"

Be careful, there may be a self-selection bias. It's possible that unaffiliated attendees may be more confrontational and likely to stay around to the point that arrests are made.

a student has serious skin in the game (expulsion, tuition, housing tied to enrollment, student jobs, etc). Outside agitators are only facing arrest, which may be their goal in the end.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill banning lab-grown meat in his state Wednesday, in what he described as an effort to “save our beef.”

“Today, Florida is fighting back against the global elite’s plan to force the world to eat meat grown in a petri dish or bugs to achieve their authoritarian goals,” DeSantis said in a press release Wednesday. “Our administration will continue to focus on investing in our local farmers and ranchers, and we will save our beef.”

That wacky global elite and their crazy authoritarian goals.
