The States: North Dakota is Still the Worst

Even better, the picture they used is from a completely different protest.

It's satire, and not bad either, given conservatives' ordinarily cringeworthy inability to be funny.

Anyway, I laughed, but I may not be a good standard of what constitutes healthy humor.

She seems strong, too.

Good. Any Mainiacs like to opine on her chances? Is Maine sick of Susan's mendacity or are they really LePage's state?

Read an article today where the Democrats tried to knock her out twice before with good candidates and money and it didn't work.

Kavanaugh and the tax cuts may have been a bridge too far for Collins this time. We'll see.

I get the sense from afar that if she had been genuine about it she probably is ok. But giving that ridiculous speech about Kavanaugh during the confirmation showed her true colors.

Yeah, that's the thing. If you're honest about your beliefs people will give you the benefit of the doubt. When you lie, or obfuscate and are no longer genuine people get upset.

This is why Trump gets a pass. He never changes. He's been a ***** grabbing, arrogant ******* his entire life.

This is exactly it. If you're honest, people know exactly where you stand, and judge accordingly. If you twist and turn and bend...well, who are you, really?

Nobody ever thought Reagan was lying. Stupid, sure. Credulous. But not deliberately deceitful.

That why Nixon left a villain and Reagan left a hero. In terms of actual crimes in office they were neck and neck.

Correct.

I was told just voting for democrats was the answer to everything

why are D caving?!?!?

Re: The States: North Dakota is Still the Worst

Didn't the governor send the state troopers to round them up? What else should she do, hold their families hostage?

Re: The States: North Dakota is Still the Worst

Nobody is blaming the governor for anything...

This quote seems to be blaming Dems for the Goopers screwing out of the state.

"Not that Oregon sums it all up, but the fact that Democrats are so consistently unwilling to play hardball when in power is extremely bad and worrying - especially on climate!"

Again, I'm not 100% sure what the alternative course of action was aside from what she already did, which was sending the staties out to find them.

Cause Democrats believe in Government. You only get away with playing Hardball if you have nothing to lose. And, Republicans never have anything to lose. Just consider what they whine about, put it in context, and ask yourself if they actually are whining about something that matters. They aren't. And that's why all or nothing works for them so well.

Scoobs, we have to follow the law. So aside from hostage taking, I'm curious what your solutions are here? I say just re-introduce the bill first thing during the next session and let those dorks spend the entire year out of state!

I don't think there's anything else they could have done. Democrats are not willing to watch the house burn down. Just like I'm not willing to watch it burn either. Everyone else I hear saying let it burn. I like the way this guy stated it in his tweet.

Republicans have a fully functional scheme in force at every level. They cause these kinds of malfunctions then run against inefficient govt and in favor of privatization (and then steer the resulting contracts to their own companies.)
— Michael Plitt (@mbplitt) June 25, 2019

And it's becoming self-fulfilling and self-sustaining.

They could not cave and give up on fighting climate change. Technically they haven't done that yet but their comments suggesting they might are what she's referring to and is concerned about.
