The Sporcle Thread

Re: The Sporcle Thread

Exactly. If empty net counts, being awarded one should too. That means that quiz sucks, because there are now 6 ways to get a goal.
A) It wasn't a Sporcle quiz, we were just talking amongst ourselves.
2) Is "being awarded" a goal really scoring a goal? Is it universally accepted as a way to score a goal like even strength, power play, etc. goals are?
III) I was just going by what ESPN / NHL.com / Versus (some large media corporation) said when they were showing Mario clips a couple months ago. My brain is faulty and there is a fairly decent chance I was wrong.
d) Well... I just can't come up with a fourth thing to say.

Well, it IS a goal. It goes on the would-be scorer's stats.

Oh, and try to ignore how it goes on the books as an empty net goal. Because that completely demolishes my argument.

My fault. I did not address my point properly in 2). Is "being awarded" a goal really a type of goal, like even strength, power play, etc. goals? Give me a break on my phrasing, I go to a tech school :p

Back to the original topic: The Monty Python quiz was awesome, bando.
And, with all the BrettFavre hoopla last week, give this quiz a shot: Who started as QB for each team the week before BrettFavre started his first game?. I failed pretty miserably, but I learned a lot :D

Empty net????
Margarita!
Awarded? As in, you have a breakaway and draw a penalty that would usually give you a penalty shot but the netminder was pulled?
If there's no goalie, that would be an empty net goal. "Awarded" would fall in the category with forehand, backhand, off a defenseman, cheap bounce off the boards, Bunyon's seeing-eye-dog missed it....

Re: The Sporcle Thread

the most popular quiz is the US states. Only 47% got it 100% right. Even accounting for a large portion of Sporcle's traffic coming from overseas, that's amazing. Minnesota was the most missed state - more than 30% missed it.

Re: The Sporcle Thread

I have become re-addicted to Sporcle.

I just noticed I had posted the MLB HOF quiz and that I got a 99.. my best effort was 153 (apparently I took it recently after watching the entire Ken Burns series).

MLB Hall of Fame by team are fun too. And World Metro beginning with (blank) - although I suck at those.

14 months later and Missouri has taken over the last spot.
