A lot of innocent people are going to be hurt, too, but it is gratifying that Dump's supporters will be among the people hurt most by this.

Yeah, people like me. Everyone's rates will immediately go up if this happens. Insurance companies don't get their money they'll get it from their customers. Me. Meanwhile the tax cut will be sold as going to me (middle class) but it does nothing for me.

I just love paying more in taxes than Mitt Romney and having every Republican ****wad tell me I'm not.

you don't pay more in taxes than Mittens. You might pay a higher effective RATE, but I'm sure Mitt pays more taxes than you do.

This is actually wrong. Cutting the CSRs will cause premiums to rise, but the tax credits for low income people are designed to keep the out of pocket premiums stable for them. The tax credits will cover the cost of the premium increase, and it's actually estimated this will increase the deficit (the added cost of the tax credits will be greater than the savings of cutting the CSRs). So the people who will suffer are the middle to upper-middle class people that use the ACA markets but don't receive the tax credit (Say Hello Scoobs).

In other words, he pays a greater share of his income in taxes than Mitt dies. Some might even shorthand that to him paying more in taxes than Mitt.

Thanks for agreeing.

I'm not agreeing. I'm saying he should say he pays a higher RATE than Romney. That's accurate. Saying he pays more taxes than Romney is not accurate. Words matter.

Yeah, words matter. That's why every time you say that he pays more every one of Trump's voters believes his tax cut is in their best interest. You can't fight stupidity with intelligence. We've tried that and it fails EVERY FRICKEN TIME.

republicans that aren't rich are dumb, otherwise they wouldn't be republicans.

I know people that are convinced they (well their kids) are going to benefit from the repeal of the estate tax even though the value of their estate isn't even close to the threshold

Even Republicans who are rich are dumb. If you destroy the planet there's nowhere to keep all your stuff.

Imagine if real wages had kept growing from the 70s through now the way they did from the 30s through the 70s. Just imagine how rich shareholders and business owners would be now. In real assets, too, not just quack accounting.

Sadly, the only people who benefit from Republican economics are the rent-seeking rich who are incapable of thriving in a true free market with well-paid, well-informed customers. It's a mechanism for freezing social mobility and ensuring that nth generation heirs never drop back into the gen pop due to their incompetence. And the price of that is the entire American economy, not to mention the happiness and in many cases the actual lives and safety of hundreds of millions of people.

And all this happens in a democratic state -- people vote for it. There is absolutely no reason we couldn't restore the 1950 tax rates today. All we need are the votes.

Yeah, saying I pay more taxes than Mitt is ridiculous.

Why?

Unless you are a millionaire, 1) you pay a higher rate than that Romney, and 2) as a percentage of how much you actually live on is even a higher rate than that.

Which is the entire point that people have- rich don't even NEED a break- they don't spend money like poor or middle class- so they have no real need for more money via tax breaks. And it can be said that this accumulation of wealth is bad, because all it does is take money out of the circulation in the economy.

Just because in absolute $$ you don't' pay more than Mitt doesn't mean you are not harmed a LOT more than Mitt WRT the impact on your economy for taxes.

(No need to really bring up that most of what Mitt brings in isn't even earned through hard work- it's just luck in finding people who are willing to pay him more for stuff he bought. Again, no real impact on the overall economy- bad way to earn money)

What's funny about that- you have to be part of the sub 1% for it to really matter. Right now, it's $5M individual, $10M couple. And to amass that much money in a lifetime, including taking money out post retirement, takes a lot of income. Being honest, we are in the top 2%, and won't even come close to that.

Lots of wealth that is just transferred is bad. It keeps money that does is already not in circulation WRT to spending and being a consumer out of the economy. It would do far more for the economy to take $1M and give it to 1000 people who make less than $50k/year than keep it tied up.
