Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

But he's acting as if the GOP is supposed to be something more. It isn't -- it's an investment strategy for donors.

And the other side isn't a revenue stream for politically Left special interests (e.g. Planned Parenthood)?
Dance with the one thats-brung-ya.

Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

There is a large strain of Republicans that believe health insurance means the same thing as auto insurance, while health coverage means universal health care.

To your first part, insurance is insurance.

To your second part, yup. That's why the synonymous usage is only adding confusion to something that is far more heat than light.

Let's assume for a moment that each side has some sort of corrupt deal-making going on. I don't think they are remotely equivalent in the Age of Trump, but for a moment let's say they are.

There is still a huge difference in policy outcomes.

D is trying to fund benefits to the poor with taxes on the rich.

R is trying to fund tax cuts for the rich by withholding services from the poor.

You mean one side is trying to take from the other side. Stunned. Shocked.

PS - ... "assume" ... :D ... I'll assume the Sun to set later today as well. ;)

rotflmao

Only one party actually pays for the laws they pass. Don't try to equate them.

Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

How's paying for the Affordable Care Act going for the Dems?
The middle class, squeezed hard by it, well, Trumped the Dems.

So the answer to my question is: I'd say about as well as paying for Reagan's DOD build up in the 1980s went.

Uh, huh. And now the GOP is fixing Obamacare by giving an 880 billion dollar tax cut to the rich.

The two are not the same. So don't say they are. SIMPLE MATH.

I think we're finding that the math is anything but simple when it comes to Obamacare these days.

It's simple. We like planes, and boats, and bombs. There's always money. Paying for Health Care? Nothing there.

So you're saying the Ds didn't pay for it and now the Rs aren't paying for it.

The parties, heck, they could star in bad Geico commercials.

Rs get tax cuts for the rich. It's what they do.
Ds get funding for their special interests. It's what they do.

No. This is as dumb as a Trump voter.

The D's "special interests" are the poor, women, children, minorities, and anyone who benefits from science and the arts.

So yeah, I think I'll pick the party who benefits the 80% of the country who needs it over the party who benefits the 1/10th of 1% who don't.

But hey. You do you.

Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

I'd just remind people that if this Trump era is looked back on as the dumpster fire we all expect it to be, False Equivalency Prophets = Trump Apologists = Trump Supporters. You'll all be lumped together. Not sure if Sic, Drew, Flaggy, Fishy, mookie, etc mind that or not, but nobody's going to care about nuances by the time his Presidency is over.

The Parties are no longer like-minded groups of people working for the benefit of Country; they have become parasitic entities seeking only power and riches, living by a Party comes above all else credo. Both parties.

I'm not sure it's ever been a matter of like-minded groups working for the benefit of Country. Things have changed, and the web might be a factor in that, but greed and the need for power have always been prime movers, it seems to me.

"That doctor just saved that man's life."

"Yeah, but she did it for selfish reasons. She even demanded payment."

Our policies help most people, your policies hurt most people. There is no way you are going to get around that or distract from that. It's the bottom line.

Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

Doing things that benefit the vast majority of the country = special interests when using North Dakota logic.

Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

Is there any evidence that costs "balooned" because of Obamacare? And I don't mean empirical evidence from the public on their costs. Has anyone looked at it from the insurance companies point of view?
