Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

I'm no Trump fan at all, but hopefully democrats and republicans alike can work together to come up with something to reign in costs

Our premium went up 35% this year and our deductable went up $700.

Look at FEHB which federal employees have. Can this be ported out to the rest of the country?

A profound change on how medical care is deployed in this country is needed. I don't want 100% government, but a partnership where risk is shared?????

How about start by requiring Congress to be under the same rules. The gold havers made an exemption.

Make Medicare available to everyone and let the private sector compete if they can. Pretty simple.

Legalize marijuana federally. Tax it if you must, although I never understood how it was possible to tax nature...

Get rid of the mandates, and they sure as heck will.

Then problem solved.

Obamacare started as the Heritage end run against public option. Give us public option and we'll take our chances against the profiteers.

Drug laws were a way to turn liberals into felons. You sure you want to give that up? I know -- now it's OK because it's rural whites who are all on drugs. But hey, anything that works.

Do you say the same for aloe vera salves and aspirin? Companies aren't selling nature, they're selling products derived from nature. They're selling expertise that give you all the mellow without the paranoia. We tax products and expertise all the time.

And then when the public doesn't pay out, you'll wish you had taken the profiteers. Learn from when Vermont tried this.

There are some of us heartless people with brains that can look beyond a person's party affiliation. Funny thing is, natural genetic modification (not that synthetic stuff most of the world is against) has resulted in strands that only have the medicinal qualities, so we don't have to worry so much about a bunch of stoners acting stupid.

Assuming proper climate, are you able to grow the Nicotiana genus in your backyard legally?

I haven't the foggiest idea, not knowing the laws around growing tobacco plants in states where I don't live.

Some states allow for people to grow marijuana plants so long as the production is under a certain threshold and only intended for personal consumption.
