It's all moot. What Flag and his mom fear will never happen, because humans would never submit to a world government. Earth is too big, and we're all too different.

I think we'll see matrixed sovereignty gradually replace nation states. There are only a few functions that having a global system would even be a big win. The most obvious is a retaliatory force armed with weapons of mass destruction. If you use invade a neighbor or use WMD Wings Over the World says "that's enough."

John Oliver covered Health Care again last night. Destroyed Paul Ryan and his plan. I hope it passes.

"So this seems almost universally hated in Washington. It is truly the Ted Cruz of Health Care Legislation!"
-Jon Oliver

My lord he nailed it!

This. ^^^^^

They did at least stop one of the big mergers recently. Not enough though.
I nearly vomited when anthem came out in support of the bill. So disgusting.
My company doesn't take a public stance, at least.

How?

And that opposed to trickle down economics? That concentrates the wealth and power at the top, and puts the worker at a severe disadvantage- bordering on enslavement. See how illegal immigrants are treated in many industries.

Besides, in the context of history, as a country, the US has been pushing our identity and morals all over the world. How is that ok but the opposite is not? Especially when "detente" was the way of the world, we did a great job of taking out suspected communists, and implanting horrible dictators. See much of South America.

The whole "libertarian" way of living as you want is a great daydream, as it ignores the impact you have on your neighbors. Unless you are ok with someone punching you in the face, literally and figuratively.

Looking back, it's interesting that the era you want to go back to is having massive tension between powers. To have detente, you need tension in the first place.

If by "trickle down economics" you mean legislating and regulating out the minnows so that the big fish can keep everything for themselves, that's certainly a big point of globalist control. This is not the same, however, as the socialist's idea of "punishing those who are successful".

Also, where have I mentioned that I want to police the world? Or are you confusing me for a parody film written by the South Park creators?

But not really. :p

Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

And your point about how each side opposes this for different reasons is not really relevant I am sorry. It doesnt matter why two sides hate something, it matters that they do.

Yeah, it does matter. cause if the Republicans said "eff it", and put a bill through tomorrow that strips everything about Obamacare away, ends Medicare and Medicaid as we know it, and doubles the premiums of the old and anyone not in the 1%, it would go through this Congress in a heartbeat, and be the law of the land.

Well, now we know why it's better.

WASHINGTON — The House Republican plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act would cause 24 million people to lose health insurance within a decade, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said on Monday.

Republicans had been bracing for what was almost certain to be a bleak accounting of the legislation’s projected effects. The American Health Care Act, as Republicans call their bill, was already facing widespread criticism from providers of health care, some conservatives, and a united Democratic Party. The numbers released Monday will only make it more difficult for Republicans to explain why their legislation would bring positive change to the country’s health care system.

And I would love it, because I'm 30, and therefore 35 years away from Medicare. Fuck you, Trumptards. Enjoy it!

Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

But as Ryan would say, the bill doesn't "cause" anyone to lose their insurance. If they end up without insurance, it's because they "chose" to. You know, cause they needed whatever money they did have for food and clothes, and other unimportant things.

Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

There's a "choice", but the tax not only remains, but is substantially increased. That is not what the mandate called for. This guy needs to be primaried.

So then, tell WHY and HOW globalism is as bad as you suggest.

I'm trying to point out the hypocrisy that has been followed, you claim not to be that way, which doesn't really jive with your posts- but that's your problem, not mine. You can't agree with yourself.

Anyway, answer my original question- How.

I'll point out that the US has multiple areas where we have come in, taken over, yet the local culture and identity is still very much in tact. Which flies in the face of your claim. So it will be interesting to hear how it's as evil as you claim.

edit- funny that you bring up how socialism punishes those who are successful- that wasn't any part of my point. Although, I see that just as an excuse to not be a full part of society- let the poor suffer because the don't "work as hard as you". Laughable. Many working poor actually work VERY hard. Just in low paying jobs- like harvesting your food. But since that's not a high value job, they somehow don't deserve simple things like healthcare.

ends Medicare

Which is the endgame. Every day, Social Security and Medicare embarrass Republicans because they actually do what Republicans always claim giving their paymasters more money will do (but which never works). Their solution is not, of course, to re-examine their dogma. It's to destroy Medicare and then to mine Social Security as an even bigger heist than 2006.

A popular, working government program is not permitted to exist in Knuckland because it exposes their lies.

What does that have to do with why a bunch of groups on opposite sides of the aisle oppose it? You are talking about something completely different.

The bill will pass that isnt what anyone is discussing, we are all talking about the aftermath.
