Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!
That part has already been established.
If she has half a brain, she quits.

Well, we already know she doesn't have half an ounce of integrity, so nothing would be surprising.
No surprises here; she still refuses to issue licenses
At the same time, securing her re-election in perpetuity.
Ok. She really believes that God does not countenance same sex marriage. How far will she go for her faith?
I doubt it. Especially once the attorney fees bills start hitting the county. Even bigots generally don't like throwing away money hand over fist.

Dismissal?
Jail?
Death?
Or, will she be like the bishop in "Kingdom of Heaven" - embrace Islam now; repent later?
Take Door #1. We will think less of you should you take the Box Jay is offering.
As I've said before, in a situation like this, she should issue the licenses. Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's. But I respect her taking a stand that might cost her a lot if she sticks to it, something few in this country understand anymore.

I did read somewhere that she is elected and therefore can't simply be fired or let go.
There is nothing in her actions to respect.
the god she has chosen to worship.
I don't agree with this at all. She does have the courage of her convictions, and that is worthy of respect. Her convictions are ignorant and bigoted, but she doesn't know that. She should be kicked out on her ear, but that's on the people and power structures around her. As far as she's knows, she's Rosa Parks.
This is also false. Most people are wind-up toys. Her faith is most likely something pre-determined by her surroundings and the tools (or lack thereof) she has to make sense of the world. There's likely no "choosing" going on -- she's just another domino in a multi-generational line.

As far as her predetermined faith and lack of choice, I guess I'm not quite the fatalist you are, Kep.
How far will she go to impose her beliefs on others, is the more relevant question here.
We ARE supposed to evangelize and witness by our actions. She is not imposing her beliefs IMO. She believes that if she issues SSM licences she is aiding an immoral act. Ok. Fine. Now decide. Her only option now is to be dismissed with prejudice or quit.
I wouldn't have a problem with her saying she can't do it because of her beliefs, but if she is restricting someone in her office who has no such objection from also doing it, she is imposing her beliefs on others (her co-workers).We ARE supposed to evangelize and witness by our actions.
