I can't find the link. I'd appreciate if you could repost. Thanks.

Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!

3) Was listening to Ted Cruz on NPR today and the man should be the GOP nominee. Most people just pay lip service to the crazy (Jebbers, Rand Paul, etc). Cruz IS batchit crazy. He's the real thing and he's where the Republican party is nowadays. Crying old corporate drunk The Boner is an 80's Gooper. Cruz is the here and now of the right.

Well, scratch Ted off the nominee list then. True representation of the GOP's values does not get one the nomination. After everything is said and done all they care about is the guy who will protect their money. Scott Walker for instance.

He does appear to be. He's the answer to the question, "what if Joseph McCarthy has been smart and sincere"?

I can see why someone smart could be conservative (Russell Kirk and Michael Oakeshott sit on my bookcase in places of honor) and I can see how someone conservative could fall into Cruz' parallel universe, but I really thought the intersection between those two sets was null. Yet Cruz exists. Either he is playing one of the longest cons in history (since birth, evidently), or he's really not that smart (though everybody who works with him agrees on two things: he's smart and he's a self-promoting windbag), or that configuration, though vanishingly rare, is biologically possible.

Jeb. Walker doesn't inspire trust. Electing a Bush is the plutocracy's way of banking their theft for another 4 years.

I don't think Jeb gets Cruz's Constituents out to vote. Walker does.

I don't think Jeb gets Cruz's Constituents out to vote. Walker does.

Cruz' constituents are passionately politically active, and they have nowhere else to go.

First up is the death penalty case. Alito writes for the 5-4 majority along ideological lines. Says the inmates have not shown the 1st drug in the three drug cocktail would violate the 8th amendment.

Horrible decision. Horrible.

Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!

Alito is still reading...AZ redistricting is presumably next from RBG, with Scalia finishing the term with the EPA case. Still waiting, though.

Sotomeyer is reading from her dissent.

Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!

Breyer reading from his dissent, which RBG joined. They apparently would've sought more briefing on the constitutionality of the death penalty as a whole. Scalia's concurrence, joined by Thomas, was apparently a rebuttal of that dissent.

Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!

On the Today show Cruz said 320 mil. Americans didn't want same-sex marriage.

So, every person including those who are in same-sex marriages. Lol

When did religious freedom become code for discrimination?

Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!

RBG has AZ redistricting. 5-4, affirming the lower court and allowing the independent commission to stand. This was also ideologically divided, with Kennedy joining the liberals.

How do you remove the rabid humans from society?

Abolishing the Death Penalty saves money. Period. And with companies now afraid to produce and sell the drugs that do the job right it's time to just shut it down. Cripes, Nebraska was illegally bringing stuff in from India just to kill people.

It's a wasted effort.

Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!

Scalia has the EPA decision, also 5-4 on ideological lines. Says the EPA acted unreasonably by not taking costs into account at the time it decides to regulate rather than later on when it implements actual regulations.

Bullets are cheap, why can't they use that?

Also, why have people on death row so long? If they aren't appealing the sentence get it over with right away.
