Comey's presser was the modern day equivalent of Marc Antony's "Friends, Romans, Countrymen". It was an iindictment without charges.

Which is why the dumbfuks in Congress should have left it at that instead of calling a hearing where they came off as angry toddlers.

If there were no TV cameras, what hearing? The worst thing we've done to tbe legislative process is turn the cameras on.

Yes it is true. She wouldn't even qualify for security clearance in a low level government position at this point. That is going to be hammered into her her entire Presidency. She's done.

If the Repubs had an adult running against her you'd be correct but they don't she is in without question. Not sure who was asking the questions to the FBI director yesterday but he got the FBI to say Hilary lied about 6 times in a row. That would kill anyone but a Clinton

And when she wins, it will be hailed as a mandate from the people and a validation of her principles (sic).

Amazing how the GOP had the two candidates who probably couldn't beat Clinton finish 1st and 2nd.

It's not a surprise. The internal dynamics of the GOP mean people rise to the top who the rest of the country finds loathsome. They're like a cult: the more f-cked up the leader, the more intense the loyalty inside the group while everybody else says "ew."

Yup. Only person in this race who had a prayer of beating Clinton was Kasich, and he won exactly 1 state in the primaries - his own. Everybody else is a mental midget who would have gotten crushed because they're either as appealing as payday loan vendors, incompetent or lunatics (or some combination of the 3).

I believe Rubio would have had a great shot. He was self-deprecating and positive, and he could have held the corporate cons with his voodoo economics while pulling in younger and browner voters with his "hopeful immigrant" act. Sure, he's a wooden-headed puppet, but Dubya showed that's a feature not a bug.

Hillary would've eaten Rubio's lunch in any debate.

Rubio would have gotten crushed. A befuddled little man in way over his head. If you can't handle Chris Krispie Kreme Christie, you're going nowhere. The problem for Rubio is George W Bush already existed. Whoever's looking for another term like that raise your hand.

Re: The Power of SCOTUS VIII redux: IX is being blocked by the Senate.

Gore beat Dubya in the debates. The public likes dumb guys. Reminds them of themselves.

Sorry but no one outside of the Beltway felt that way. Gore bored people to death in the debates and came off wooden and pompous. Dubya played up the "Aw Shucks" and that was enough to erase and real points Gore made.

Rudio would have been destroyed. He would have had to pivot on immigration selling out his own people and then would have gotten destroyed for it in the debates while Hillary called for a path to citizenship. His fiscal policies are a joke and he is even worse at public speaking than Dubya. (seriously he reads prompter like he is in a 4th grade play, I half expect him to wave at mommy and daddy when he speaks) The guy wasnt ready for Primetime 4 years ago and may be worse now.

Re: The Power of SCOTUS VIII redux: IX is being blocked by the Senate.

Hillary would've crushed anyone but Cruz or tDon in a debate.

A Cruz debate would be a snooze-fest. Hillary would seem dynamic and likable.

A Hillary/tDon debate comes down to who gets the other to show the fangs first. In that scenario I pick the school-yard brawler every time.

As I understand it Cruz was a monster in debate while at College. Went to Princeton and Harvard Law School too.

I did and I was outside the Beltway then.

On substance Gore destroyed Dubya on every point. On affect Gore looked pompous but Dubya looked bewildered and stupefied.

In the later debates Bush improved (whether or not he had an ear piece and Cheney telling him what to say) and Gore did become more overbearing, but again on specifics and policy Gore trounced him.

The only thing that debate proved was debates are pointless. If you can fall to pieces like that, demonstrate you're unfit for the job, and still get close enough in the election where a governor brother can deliver it to you, then there is no reason to pretend the electorate is deciding based on policy and proficiency.

You're still outside the Beltway!! 😀

dubya was able to get down and relate to people. gore couldn't find that gene with a map.

mookie always said the defining moment was went the broad stood up in the town hall and asked how each guys tax plan would help her. gore goes, "well, if you go back to school you'll get a $xxx credit" and crap like that. 40yo joe public ain't going back to no school. how stupid. dubya says, "well, if you make $35k you'll keep an extra $3k in your pocket" (or whatever it was). friggin' genius.

political debates are yale law school points on topic (or otherwise eddie munster would still be scaring the hell outta voters).

political debates are not sweating like nixon and relating to the 35% of americans who will bother voting.

dubya KILLED algore. left him cut open and bleeding all over the stage.
