I'm sure you know, though probably would prefer to deny, that the poor and disadvantaged always do better in times of economic growth than in times of stagnation. The disparities between rich and the rest have grown wider over the past six years at a much faster rate than they did in the previous eight, you know.

Your guy has been in the White House for six years. And your response is to complain about Bush instead of defend Obama? That speaks volumes right there.

A previous poster referred to Bush's 8 years in comparison to OB's current tenure. Read it.

Try to stick your neck out, Bob, and say precisely what volumes that speaks to you.

Eh, I don't think it's a fault in this case. When it comes to debates/discussions/fecal matter flinging, I'd say it's better to give someone the benefit of the doubt and have them prove you wrong. If you immediately assume the worst, you'll never have a meaningful conversation.

Yah, he just made a factual point, which you chose not to refute, that the gap between rich and poor is bigger under Obama than it was under Bush. And you took that to launch into a classic Bush whine. One would think you and your ilk could find a new schtick after Bush being gone for six years, but apparently not.

Bob I understand your need to try to get out from under The Bush Debacle, but sadly you will be branded with it for the rest of your days. Think of it this way. In the 2012 election, conservatives were still trying to liken it to the Reagan-Carter 1980 contest, and election that took place 32 years prior. :rolleyes:

So, given that Bush left office right after the 2008 election, by my count you will carry his stench until at least 2040! Get ready for "we can't allow Candidate X to fill out George W Bush's 3rd term" a lot of the next several decades!

Now, if this seems unfair, you shouldn't have backed him to the hilt. The current budget situation and Iraq are directly his fault. Oh, and please spare us the usual bleating about how you never were a big supporter of his. Every righty loved the guy right up until election night in 2006, and you all secretly hope for his redemption. :eek:

OK. I know you love to do your little rants about this kind of stuff. And you're quite good at them and creative. I give you that. Problem is, I never backed Bush anwhere near to the hilt. I wasn't a fan of going into Iraq and he failed terribly on fiscal responsibility, and there are other things. But, you know that, as we've gone back and forth on this stuff for years. But, nice try.

When people stop calling any person who suggests solving problems diplomatically rather than militarily "Neville Chamberlain," we'll talk about maybe sunsetting the Dubya meme.

To be fair that's just one elderly poster for the most part who actually remembers Neville Chamberlain, a guy who served as prime minister in the late 1930's when said poster was in his 20's I believe. ;)

Bob, sorry but finding conservatives who didn't support Bush pre-2006 election season is like finding a unicorn. Yeah, we've heard they exist but nobody's actually seen one except in their dreams. Protest the fairness of it all you want, but like it or not you're all getting painted with the same broad brush for political purposes. Of course, it doesn't help your cause when the last two GOP nominees have run on the exact same platform as Bush (Tax cuts for GOP campaign contributors, massive defense spending, unending war in Iraq, etc). I'm guessing that history repeats itself in 2016...

To be fair, I never voted for Bush. Too young (didn't really care) in 2000 and voted for Kerry in 2004.

Not at all what was posted. The post was strictly limited to the context of inequality: which has grown worse more in the past six years in than in the preceding eight. Nothing said about "success". Comment ONLY about the widening inequality: the person who preaches about inequality also has presided over more of it. and policies adopted since 2008 have led directly to it becoming worse (e.g., quantitative easing, bailing out banks and GM, "cash for clunkers" which made used cars far more expensive, preferential treatment of already-advantaged special interest groups, etc. etc.).

Not saying the preceding eight years were great, merely observing that some people say one thing and then do another. Generally, attempts to directly address income inequality invariably exacerbate the situation given that the rich and well-connected dominate politics and government.
