The Power of SCOTUS V: The Final Frontier

Re: The Power of SCOTUS V: The Final Frontier

McCain is a shell of his former self. Seems to me he hasn't gotten over getting blown out in the 2008 election. He went from maverick to lap dog for the far right of his party. McCain 2000 to 2008 may have been the same person. McCain (R-Sunday Talk Shows) 2008-present is a joke politically.

This. He used to be an admirable politician. Not anymore.

I hope history remembers him for what he was prior to becoming whipped.

Re: The Power of SCOTUS V: The Final Frontier

This just isn't true. McCain is as slippery a politician as any out there. The only thing that makes him seem like a straight shooter is he has a personal anger management problem. Stories about McCain exploding on the Hill and ripping young staffers, women Members, capitol support staff could fill multiple volumes -- anybody he thinks he can bully he does; as soon as he's intimidated, he walks it back as a joke. He's not a maverick; he's just a jerk.
But he's always been that way. And I speak as someone who has had to have him represent me in Congress for a long time. Stories on this stuff have been around for many years. He's just gotten more attention for it in recent years.

well, how about the idea to censor t - a - r - d? Now we cannot mention Dr. Who's time ship nor discuss clothing that is imbued with chemicals to keep it from burning. Some censorship is just dopey.

Not only did McCain flop all over the place, but he was no longer admirable by 2008. I hated that the GOP screwed him over in favor of junior and would have voted for him then with fervor, but 8 years later he was a shell of that man and out of respect I'll leave the criticism there.

I would say that's a pretty good analysis. I remember my parents were big McCain supporters in 2000. My mom in particular was so furious with Rove's smear campaign against McCain that she ended up voting for the Tin Man since Pat Buchanan wasn't a candidate in Michigan. Eight years later, neither of them were too enthusiastic about McCain, and the reasons were obvious.

I like Pat. But I don't want him to change his current employment.

Another court challenge to PPACA, this time from the State of Indiana based on the 10th Amendment: it is their contention that the federal government cannot impose the employer mandate on a state government.

And it will fail unless Indiana bans all out-of-state insurance companies from offering plans in their state. You know, the whole interstate commerce thing.

Just another whack job right wing nothing lawsuit.

One has nothing to do with the other. People and employers are free to choose to acquire insurance if they want to. The constitutional issue is whether the federal government can compel a state government either to provide health insurance OR pay a fine.

This has already been decided by the Roberts Court... They clearly ruled that the feds can.

Well the feds do compel state governments to pay the federal minimum wage.
