New Zealand has 5 channels showing the Olympics. They have 16 competitors.

I gotta admit, there wasn't a better person to win canada's first gold medal at home. Nice story about his relationship with his brother.

Yeah, that's the exact video that I was reminded of that gave me goosebumps. I think that GE nailed it. The pride in that song is astounding. It bothers me when I see people with hats on, talking on the phone, or generally being disruptive during the star spangled banner.

I'm so disinterested in NBC's coverage that I'm not looking forward to watching any more of the olympics. It's making me happy that CNBC and MSNBC is carrying hockey. Why can't speed skating be on those networks too.


*Edit* Yes I know they're the same company, but I've enjoyed the attention hockey has gotten on those networks. And have you seen how they'll cut early from a commercial to rejoin the games? That would never happen on the parent channel.

But I bet they have good ratings. They aren't catering their coverage to us - we're sports fans. They want the casual viewer that typically doesn't tune in to sports except every couple of years.

With me, it's the lack of options for sports fans... Like I said earlier, no internet coverage of SBX, so we don't see 8 of 16 heats... For the Men's Downhill we get just a handful of runs from the 64 competitors...

Canada basically has their CTV/TSN feeds available online... NBC did this for the Summer games as well... Why not for this

Funny story and reason #9535 I hate the Hawks bandwagon: At a game in the United Center earlier this year, I had some woman all decked out in Towes gear... When the anthem came on, my buddies and myself started hooting a whistling as is the norm for Chicago... After the anthem, she had the audacity to berate us as to how disrespectful we were being towards America... When I asked her if she ever had been to a game and that if she had any idea of the tradition... Of course she said that this was her first game and that the was clueless about the Anthem

Steve, since I've moved to Chicagoland I've been able to enjoy that stirring rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at every Chicago Wolves game as sung in person by Wayne Messimer. It's a shame the Hawks treated Wayne like they did. And then they went and got someone to duplicate his style at Blackhawks games.

Wayne's is still the best.

That's not the issue here. The equipment is there. The stuff is being filmed. They have Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC right now. That gets lower ratings than static. They're clearly just idiots.

COOLEST SPORTS MOMENT EVER!!! I was privliged enough to be at the Stadium for that and I will NEVER forget it... Even as an 8 year old kid, I knew right then and there it was something special...
