Re: The Official Thread of the 2009 Little League World Series

Mexico disposed of one of the weakest Japanese teams we've seen at the Little League World Series in awhile 6-0 earlier today. The Mexican pitcher had a no-hitter through 4 and a third innings but had to be taken out due to the 85 pitch count rule.

Texas leads New York 2-0 right now in the bottom of the 2nd in the first US semifinal. Texas is without their top hitter Daves, who has a fever. But that didnt stop them in the first inning as they scored two runs off NY's ace Navetta. Certainly, Texas looks like the stronger team right now as they have been playing excellent defense all LLWS.

They got out of a bases loaded no out jam in the first inning without giving up a run and they havent looked back from there.

Re: The Official Thread of the 2009 Little League World Series

Texas gets out of another big jam in the top of the third inning turning their second bases loaded double play of the game to limit New York to just one run and they lead 4-1 heading to the bottom of the third.

You have to wonder how much more frustration this New York team can take after getting so many chances and then getting turned away again and again.

Re: The Official Thread of the 2009 Little League World Series

Texas turns their THIRD bases loaded double play of the game to once again turn back the New York offense in the top of the 5th inning.

San Antonio leads 4-1 heading to the bottom of the fifth.

New York turned their own bases loaded double play to get out of the bottom of the fourth and stay in the game.

As much as I'd like to see the New York team win, Texas is clearly the better team and they continue to prove it with their outstanding defense every inning.

Great little league game to only add another chapter to an outstanding LLWS this year

Re: The Official Thread of the 2009 Little League World Series

3/4ths of the final four is set as Chinese Taipei downed Curacao 5-2 earlier today at Lamade Stadium.

Chinese Taipei will face Mexico in the International Championship at noon on Saturday.

San Antonio awaits the winner of tonight's blockbuster match-up between Warner Robbins, Georgia and Chula Vista, California.

Re: The Official Thread of the 2009 Little League World Series

Markus Melin just made #1 on Sportscenter's top 10 tomorrow.

Outstanding diving catch to rob a Georgia hitter of a hit and then doubles up the runner who never thought he had a chance at making the catch.

Georgia leads Chula Vista, CA 1-0 in the bottom of the 3rd.

Re: The Official Thread of the 2009 Little League World Series

The #9 hitter for California, Seth Godfrey is hitting .600 and just hit his third homerun of the LLWS to tie the game up at 1.

We've got a barnburner in Williamsport folks...

Seriously for people who havent been following this thing, you're really missing out. There has been some fantastic baseball played in PA this weekend by these 11 and 12 year olds and frankly it's better than what you get from the major leaguers at this time of year.

I strongly encourage anyone reading this thread to turn the TV onto ESPN and watch this game. It's going to be a classic.

This tournament is always one of my favorite parts of the summer, for many reasons. Unfortunately last year I couldn't watch most of it due to school commitments, but I've been able to watch several games this year. I've promised myself to go there for the tournament someday and experience it.

So... did anyone notice that Gopher fan "That Guy" was the home plate umpire last night?

I'm rooting for Taiwan, but I would like to thank California for knocking out Georgia.

Re: The Official Thread of the 2009 Little League World Series

Should be a great day of baseball today at Lamade Stadium so long as the rain holds off long enough to get the two games in. The outlook is gloomy here in the Northeast for today.

I personally wouldnt mind a bit of a rain delay for both games since I have to work till 5 and will miss pretty much the entire thing if they start on time.

Mexico/Chinese Taipei is going to be an intriguing match-up. Mexico has a great mix of big bats and solid pitching. As always Chinese Taipei is fundamentally sound and have been doing just enough to beat their opponent. They aren't going to overwhelm you with talent but they play the game right and don't make a lot of mistakes. They play very similar to how most of the Japanese teams usually play that make it to Williamsport.

Chula Vista and San Antonio should be another barnburner of a game and a great re-match of their earlier Pool Play game. I'm not really rooting for either side since I think they both are very strong. However, I feel California gives the United States their best shot at winning their fifth straight title.
