The official MCH'AQ' season thread

Re: The official MCH'AQ' season thread

Gee, I thought that AQ meant "Adrian Qualifies". :D If they don't, how many "Fire Fogarty" threads will there be?

That's funny...Rayo' .....I would have thought you might be more concerned about a 3RD consecutive MCHA championship & NCAA Championship which most certainly would result in threads warranting Hall of Fame induction. :p  :D

I have to say, I can't thinking of anyone that might claim a higher standing in the Hall of Flame:eek: ;) ;)

Larry ...as the TOP "Champion" .......representing the Adrian Region .... I expect you to get this long awaited and HISTORIC season kick-started in positive fashion with a National Championship.:D :D. ;)

While I must admit, every season (in fact every elapsed moment) becomes "historic"; it is hard to “start the season” with a championship. While I will admit, that all things considered, it is easy to draw a foregone conclusion that Adrian will take the AQ, alas, I can not give them the championship before the start of the season:eek: :o ;) Unless, of course, you are refering to the TOP National Championship, at which, all I can do is hope there are not any hanging chads  :)

It would be extremely difficult to draw a six-hundred and sixty foot conclusion. Perhaps you meant a "foregone conclusion"?
;)

I was just testing to see if anyone actually read the posts:p ;)

Ok, dam the spell checkers :o (and I don't mean the quality control folks in Salem). Note dam is the politically correct spelling, least it become ****.

Random thought:

You know what would be funny? If Adrian wins the AQ, it's a 6-5 split and Adrian gets shipped East...which will do nothing to quench the thirst of the fans who want to see Adrian play a NCHA team.

Being the eternal optimist I am, I'm calling it now. This is how it's going to go down...if for nothing more than to punish us.

...........shipped East......probably....but if Adrian does win the AQ............what would the chances be that they host a game ??

Is it even conceivable ?

I highly suspect that whoever wins the MCHA AQ will be the lowest seed in the West. If Adrian didn't even crack the top seven in the final regional rankings at 27-1-1 I don't expect a MCHA team to crack the top five without slapping a decent amount of NCHA teams around.

If a 6E 5W split, why not??

East Round 1
1 & 2 Byes
3 v 6
4 v 5

West Round 1
1, 2, 3 byes
Adrian @ 4

East Round 2
1 vs w/o 4/5
2 vs w/o 3/6

West Round 2
1 vs Adrian
2 vs 3

Lake Placid
E1 vs W2
Adrian vs E2.

It's a rocky road, but it can be done.

6 East team with AQ's for
ECAC-E
ECAC-NE
NESCAC
SUNYAC
Pool B to ECAC-W
1 bid left - can the MASCAC get in at #5E????

PREDICTION: In the first USCHO rankings, Adrian will be ranked seventh and be behind three East teams who havent even played a game.

Well, we all know my thoughts on the lazy and illogical voting patterns, never mind certain petty regional bias, that show up in the USCHO poll...

As I've mentioned before, I don't even know if my ballot ever gets used, but I take it seriously and do the best I can based on what I've seen from teams out here and nothing but game results from the East. That said, there are some things that occur that are completely ridiculous based on game results, and I'm speaking nationwide across the board there - completely independent of Adrian.

The NCAA poll is the one to watch, and I see no way a MCHA team is going to crack the top five short of the league somehow abusing the NCHA in non-conference play. MSOE was up at #3 or #4 the year the Raiders went 21-5-1 but fell out of the ranked realm once SOS was factored in. And as we've seen with Adrian, 26-1-1 isn't enough and it's all because of SOS. I don't see that changing for MSOE, Adrian or anyone else in the league this season.

To the extent it matters, I don’t expect that the rest of the MCHA will be doing Adrian any favors when it comes to nonconference play. Marian, MSOE and Lawrence all have pretty stiff nonconference schedules. These programs are no longer scheduling the bottom of the MIAC. In addition, a bunch of MCHA schools have nonconference games scheduled with other MCHA schools (Finlandia, Concordia , MSOE and LF).

Smart money certainly backs Adrian, but after all of this talk, I will laugh (or maybe cry) if LF, MSOE or Marian find a way to knock off Adrian when it matters.

Another reason why the 20-game league schedule kills you.
5 leftover ... can't go and do 3 series...

Re: The official MCH'AQ' season thread

Is there any truth to a rumor of Oakland University jumping up to D-III from club status? Or is it just a pipe dream because they have other D-I sports like basketball, volleyball and soccer?

Oakland is scheduled to play Adrian ACHA Div I on Jan 15 & 16, 2010. If they are going to D III it doesn't look like it will be this season.
