Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

Maine has a shot to do some damage this season.

TIMMAY just might win the BIG ONE and silence us nutcases for good! ;)

Agreed Maine has a shot to do some damage. Maine is looking more and more like a .500 ish team, which is a heck of an improvement.

And TIMMAY win the big game and silence us.....nah...won't happen. I don't think it is his leadership that is the cause for our improvement.

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

That was fun to watch last night. It's been a long time since Maine put 10 up on the board. A lot of empty seats last night in Portland and no band.

Maybe they should try giving Maine season ticket holders halfway decent seats, instead of sticking us all in the nosebleeds.

I agree that Maine season ticket holders should get the best seats. I'm sick of sitting behind that netting every game.

First of all, i am happy to say that Maine played great. again, all the bounces went Maine's way, because Maine was always moving in the right direction to fill in the gaps in the open ice and Maine was always moving in anticipation of the play (Like Gerbe always did)

But second... how can anyone complain about their tickets after last night's game? The CCCC was about 1/3 full and unless you were with a group of 75 girl scouts who really wanted to all sit together, you could have sat pretty much anywhere you wanted to sit.

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

Attendence was 5279.....what I liked in the game last night was the one touch passing and the sense of confidence in the team as a whole.....hopefully they can put on a string of wins.....

We should get those seats without having to move to them because someone didn't show up. Take care of the season ticket holders first not the people walking up to the ticket office from the street.

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

Wow, bench not too deep these days, no one was a healthy scratch? Thanks!

Seems that there is a lot of depth on the bench (or sleepers) to come out and play like that against Lowell and SLU.

We had no way of knowing that the building was going to be that empty. Very hard to tell. (If anyone call tell for sure, then we need to talk about lottery numbers).

I am not talking the best seats, I am talking decent seats. If we had decent seats, we would have been there. And this is not me being selfish, this is me not wanting to deal with the high narrow cement stairs with a bum knee.

Was that "paid" attendance, or actual people there attendance?

paid attendance, civic center was between 50-60% full... re: season ticket holders... i get what you are saying, but the idea behind playing a game portland is to showcase the team for fans that do not have season tickets and those that don't make the drive to orono a couple of times a year... they want (and now need) those fans buying tickets... that's why you see prime seats being made available to the local market...

Didn't you have some sitting with you:p

future in-laws... he was very complimentary of the maine team while critical of st lawrence... at the end of the first period, he said "the guys that played when he was at SLU ('67-'71) could have dressed last night and had a better showing, and they're in their sixties"

he did think the reffing was a bit one-sided, but at the same time, he is not a hockey guy... st lawrence wasn't moving their legs all night and then took some foolish penalties out of frustration... i only saw one penalty on SLU that i would have considered "soft"

And I fully get what you are saying as well. The fans and alum in the Portland area are entitled to good seats for the one game that is played in Portland each year. In which case, make the purchase of tickets to the game in Portland optional for season ticket holders, and save me a few bucks in the process.

It usually isn't that empty for a game there.

Just make the game optional for season ticket holders.

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

There weren't 5279 in attendence last night including Steve Crane and his staff. Both ends were nearly empty and sections on both sides near the goal lines were partly filled. The middle sections were nearly filled. I was able to sit behind the scorers bench right on the red line.

The confidence from the Lowell win carried over into last night’s game with players displaying smiles occasionally on their way back to the bench.

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

Doubt there will be much activity for next year since they are only losing 3 players with one being Wilson and they are bringing in 3 forwards.

It would be smart for those who might commit to Maine not to say much in the way of publicity, just to hedge their bets.

About 1,500 lower than Maine's usual "paid" crowd in Portland.
