The Official 2010 Denver Cup Thread: DU, BC, UNO, SLU

Re: The Official 2010 Denver Cup Thread: DU, BC, UNO, SLU

This should be a good weekend for SLU to play some good competition out west and see what happens. Our OOC schedule has been considerably less challenging than usual years, likely in part to Joe Marsh realizing we would be pretty young and not having a major part of our scoring like last year.

We've been semi-rotating 3 goalies so far this year, but nobody has stepped up to snag #1 yet. Scoring has also been somewhat inconsistent with no "go-to" guy really. SLU will bring a solid effort however all game long, and plays an entertaining, wide open style of hockey. Will all games be covered on TV?

Only the Denver games will be televised on FSN-Rocky Mountain and probably FCS Central. Since DU will not be playing SLU, no TV for the SLU games.

I figured that would be the case. Ah well, will have to settle for radio coverage then probably.

Been to one game at Magness--won't happen again. Worst fans in college hockey. Say whatever you want about me or my team. Leave my wife out of it. And, what self-respecting hockey program has a carving table at the rink? Too good for burgers and dogs?

If not for that, I might have gone to see one of the UNO games. Then again:
Friday, Jan 1:
4:35 Rose Bowl: Oregon vs. Ohio State
7:35 Sugar Bowl: Florida vs. Cincinnati

Saturday, Jan 2:
4:05 Liberty Bowl: Arkansas vs. ECU
7:05 Alamo Bowl: Michigan State vs. Texas Tech

If any of those are blowouts, I might flip over to FoxSports Rocky Mountain.

Your wife is a baboon.

Talk about lack of self-respect: wasting 4 hours of your life watching an Arkansas vs. ECU football game? Do yourself a favor. Emerge from your overstuffed sofa, stand up, and walk away from the television.

Im just ****ed that I was too drunk at the hotel afterparty to go out and steal the FF banners off the lightpoles :(

You missed the boat. It's a FF tradition.

BTW, if I ever want to watch Arkansas vs. East Carolina in football over #2 vs. #3 in the country in college hockey, I'm going to kill myself very quickly. For the poster that wrote that, might I suggest dousing yourself in gasoline and lighting yourself on fire. Just a suggestion.

any bc fans making the trip, make sure to checkout the dugout. its a short walk from the downtown arena and the owner is a big boston fan.

Dugout is no longer the dugout, it's now a jazz bar or something. The Pour House is a Red Sox bar, the Blake Street Tavern is a Pats bar, and there aren't any Bruins bars.

Steve, didn't we do our partying at the Pour House (along with the Gerbe clan)?

Not that I remember much after we smoked Notre Dame... :o

Hey Steve, do you like manga? Hahahah.

Only 4 days until DU hockey again. DU will be only missing d-man Matt Donovan who is having a tremendous WJC with Team USA. UNO will be without Coach Blais as he is the head coach for Team USA. BC will be missing Chris Kreider who is also playing for Team USA.

It's definitely good to have hockey to look forward to. The layoff is a drag.

You folks will be seeing one of the quickest BC teams (all 4 lines) we've had in a while. Scoring is spread out amongst the whole lot of 'em, and there's no quit in them. Go up 3-zip on them and they'll keep coming at ya.

Win or lose, you'll enjoy some great hockey... guaranteed you won't be disappointed in the quality of play. :)

Your wife is a baboon.

She goes to the carving table every weekend with 14er for juicy cuts. :D
The US government built an incredible shrine to College Hockey at the Air Force Academy. I'm sure you're very proud of it. Does it fold up and fit in the closet after the game?

Yep--It should be a good weekend as long as the WCHA doesn't send there top striped idiots to do the games. I think that HE and the WCHA are the two top conferences in CE right now. The UVM series to open the season was good hockey. Both teams match up on paper almost exactly even. DU has a 21% PP--man it's been a long time since we could say that. Heading up to the mountains for a couple of days and coming back to town for the weekend. I hope CC gets hammered in Florida.
