Nice regular season Miami. Just wasn't the same team after the CCHA regular season was clinched and the intensity of playoff hockey arrived.

Anyone starting to notice a pattern with playoff hockey and Miami?
They are a tremendous regular season team but they seem to struggle to win big games. Is this a talent issue or a coaching issue?
Don't get me wrong - they had another great season and getting back to the 4 was...well wasn't it a bit expected given that they were #1 or 2 all year?

Like I said no coach![]()

They had 3 coaches on the bench last night, I know a good eye doc if you need your eyes checked....
Tell your kid to get better and he may crack the line up. Sad that as a bitter parent you have to come on here to whine....someday you may grow up, back to back frozen fours is pretty solid. If you had half a brain you may understand that...but you've proven you don't so I don't expect you to understand....
Let's see, in the last five years: five NCAAs, two league championships, two frozen fours, seniors graduating on time - things are just terrible here.![]()
I think some are forgetting Miami won it's first NCAA game four years ago, and now has seven NCAA wins. I guess those games are not "big games" to some.
I think the major part of Miami's rise has been hard work from day one every year. Maybe that does mean they overachieve for the whole season relative to their talent, I don't know, but if it does, that is something of which to be very proud, IMO. And, given where Miami's program was, that is the only way to have more than fleeting improvement. And it certainly is the only way a program like Miami's can give itself a chance to get to the show some times, which it has.
But I guess by some people's standards, there are 57 coaches every year who can't win the big one.
I am disappointed with the way Miami played, but very pleased with a season that had MU picked third and fourth in the league and ended with one new championship banner and another Frozen Four banner.

Miami had a great season. They have a place in their memory, and there is something in their nature telling them them cannot beat a hockey team named "BOSTON".![]()
Miami needs to come East during the early winter and play Hockey East teams to understand what they need to do to beat them. Yes, they played UNH early, but HE games are different after the New Year.
INTERESTING NOTE: Both NCAA finalists, BC and WISCONSIN played a game outdoors in the BIG setting on machine ice. Not so with the losing teams. Does anyone think that might have had an underlying influence on the outcomes?

True, track, but not easy for Miami to get those games in the past. In the old days, nothing to gain for their opponesnts. Perhaps it will be easier to get those games in the future.
To your ice point, from what I saw in the two games yesterday it was not the ice. There may have been what Gwoz used to call "The Big House Effect" (literal in this case), but most of the Miami players were in a pretty big house last April. BC played great in all facets, Miami did not. Miami was capable of better, obvously, but BC was just much better yesterday.
