The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

Kudos to Mike Carey for getting that fumble call correct.

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

I've complained about Brady's game management but if he ever pulled that **** I'd burn down the bar. Absolutely horrendous game management. Unforgiveable. I wouldn't trust Flacco to deliver my mail.

Jets are imploding -- so here, why don't you take seven points, keep the change, oh no thank you sir.

P.S. The Band That Wouldn't Die (or something like that) is a great 30 For 30 documentary.

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

So I have Vick and Newton. This is the fourth week in a row where Newton has matched or beaten Vicks numbers. What the hell should I do? No one is making offers for either.

Which one do I even start?

Don't bench the guy you drafted as a starter, unless it is painfully obvious. Rule #1 in FFL, due to keeping your sanity.

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

Yeah, but last year I had Vick and Brees. I'll give you two guesses who rode the bench most of the season.

(I guess I have a knack for picking QBs as the last round pick on a whim...)

I have a similar problem with Rodgers and Newton. Through 3 weeks Newton was outscoring Rodgers. Glad I started Rodgers this week...
I'm trying to trade Rodgers for a high end WR or RB and some other puzzle pieces. No responses.

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

What an awful game to watch tonight.

But I eek out a win to go to 3-1 on the season, surviving a horrible performance by Keller. Luckily Boldin didn't fare well either.

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

So week after week after week these SNF guys tell us only about the skill position players and the storylines -- and then suddenly, tonight, football's all about the center? So the OL matters? That should be news to Michaels and Collinsworth, but instead they segue like they've been talking about this stuff for years. Ugh.

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

Flacco completes two passes over the last three quarters and BAL wins by three scores. Wow.

Collinsworth also said Bryant McKinnie was cut by Minnesota for "salary cap reasons"

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

I've already won two games, as long as I can fade 11 pts by Josh Freeman, 29 points by Blount and 8 points from Reggie Wayne I could go 5-0.

Well I hope you lose in whatever league you need Blount to succeed in...I have a 12 pt lead in that league and my opponent has blount...basically no TD for Blount and I should win.

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

So, after ripping Perriera before, I'll give him props for disagreeing with the NFL on their ruling that Nicks gave himself up in that Giants/Cardinals game.

It was Cruz, not Nicks. For what it's worth, even as a Giants fan, I agree with Pereira and thought it was a bad call.

Then you want me to win because I need him to score less than 29 points and you need him to score less than 12 :p

The language of the rule allows for players to give up on a play. This is why a QB doesn't have to be touched after he slides. On that basis, I actually agree with the call.

But QBs are different. I haven't seen the play but you have to blatently give up on the play when you aren't the quarterback. I remember seeing a guy (middle guy on return team) grab the ball and get on one knee and then get crushed by a defender on a KO return. No flag was thrown because its very hard to tell intent to give up the play in that moment.

Mangini on the radio this morning said that unless you slide, you need to tell the official you plan to give yourself up before the play in the two minute offense.
