The teams you played 4x in conference last year, you play 2x next year. NMU and UAH will make up the NC series from last year that got scuttled. See you in January.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but as I recall off the top of my head the WCHA used to have only 8 teams make it. At that time it was the WCHA final 4 but when the league expanded, it was decided that they would go with 5 teams making it and thus the final 5. Maybe this is totally obvious, maybe I'm dead wrong, but that's my recollection.

Correct. Then when the league expanded to 12 teams, six went to St Paul, they dropped the consolation game and had two quarterfinals, two semis and the final for five games.

If Chicago had an arena that was less than 10k in the downtown area, or on the 'L' I think it would be a more viable option. I like the idea of Chicago, but I'm not sure how well it works in reality. I don't really see Minneapolis being in the same boat though, while it may be the center of the hockey universe it's not the center of our conference. In fact I would make the argument that it's one of the harder cities for conference teams to get to, especially if you consider Chicago as an alternative (and it's airports).

If the Big 10 can be 6, 11, 12 or 14 I don't see why we get all worried about a 4 team event that plays 3 games calling itself "final 5"

I'm wondering what people thought about the reffing in general. If you remember one of the reasons for the nacho was the reffing.

I thought it was OK. It will never be perfect, and I think everyone understands that. I get the impression that the HUGE Mistakers aren't too happy with their reffing again. Maybe it is more a case of those schools' ******* goonery extending from the AD offices all the way to on the ice.
