I had the WCHA TV season pass, so I'm very annoyed that this week isn't included. I probably would have bought a "first round pass" for all games if they offered it for like $20. I might buy a Game 3 if I feel like it (and if any are available), but no more than that.

Although, logging into my America One account, I see tonight's UAA-UAF game listed. I hope this isn't a trick. :)

My only point was that it's much easier to sell out 2400 seats than 4700. The 3500 they are averaging this year may not approach sellout. But it's a terrific number for a market that size. Thanks for your personal comments. Much appreciated.

Ryan — when I said on-ice for the logo, I should've written under-the-ice.

Looks like the first round of playoffs will be on WCHA.tv. I can see the UAA @ UAF game listed in my Season Pass. [ETA: I see my partner-in-crime posted as well.]

ETA: I've seen an analysis of other sports show that winning effects typically go in-season and next season. I haven't looked at it, but I'm betting that UAA's numbers got better as the year went along, accounting for other factors. UAH typically gets better attendance in the second half of the year, but the numbers didn't bump up much once they got HSV to sponsor GA buyouts for the last two weekends. Good luck trying to sell that record to potential attendees, free or not.

And it is incredibly dumb that Matt Thomas didn't get Coach of the Year.

I would have chosen Matt as well. Nearly everyone had Ferris near the top at the beginning and nearly everyone had UAA #9. Though the increase in number if wins was similar, getting that winning attitude built quickly in Anchorage was a great accomplishment.

Terrific first season for the new version. There are many deserving players. The one I thought could have been included in the all rookie was the Siemer kid from NMU who came in at Christmas and put up 18 pts in 19 games, tied with Shempp in 9 fewer games.

And the fact that he did it with basically zero players he recruited and very little college coaching experience.

When I saw the article talking about this on USCHO and the guys predicted Daniels would win and all they said was "he's led Ferris State as leaders wire to wire." And that's enough to win Coach of the Year over Thomas?

It turns the award into a bit of a farce IMO, why we don't we just name it "Coach of the Team That Won The MacNaughton Cup" award?

Daniels is a very good coach but as it's mentioned his team was predicted to finnish high in the standings. Thomas had a team that was picked 9th and he coached them up. The old ccha had some very questionable award winners in the past as well.

I would have voted for Thomas for coach of the year. But just because Ferris was picked to finish in 1st place doesn't mean if they do they shouldn't be rewarded. Same goes for their coach, congratulations to Bob Daniels. He did a great job coaching the bulldogs this year. The award isn't called coach who surprised everyone and had the biggest turnaround with their team. It may not have been my choice either, but now we gotta live with it.

Think he could have done it with UAA?
