The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

Per game.

I get that money is tight, but the way they're nickel-and-diming the people that support their league on this is embarrassing. If you want to save costs, stop flying the guy that killed the WCHA out of Denver every weekend.
Who from North Dakota is flying out of Denver?

Meant that it could be a starting point. For example, if WLUC TV6 was profitable airing the MTU/NMU series, they could try again with a playoff game and potentially reap more profits by charging a slightly higher advertising rate for the playoff games... But if the NMU/MTU games weren't much more profitable over whatever crap programming got pre-empted on FoxUP, then obviously it wouldn't be worth it.
how do you sell it in only 5 days? Then pay for the expenses and crew on the road? It was one thing to co-op NMU & MTU's video stream.

@gfmorris;
I'm concerned about what you've got against Adam-12.
Next thing you'll be taking shots at Bonanza and Leave It To Beaver.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

Does anyone know when the WCHA will release it's tentative conference schedule? Now that my Lakers are done for the year, I'm curious what next year will bring. It was released March 7 last season.

The Lakers start at Robert Morris in early October. I believe they also travel to Northern and host Michigan Tech in October.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

I can't believe that more has not been made of the fact that the WCHA almost made the UAF v UAA playoff series a mandatory first round match up by conference rule because we were all so broke. They ultimately decided not to and then low and behold... baaazing we get a UAF v UAA first round match up anyway. Shocker.

Where are the conspiracy theory folks when you need them? UAF scores 42 goals in 7 previous games, including 7 the previous night, and then when all they needed was one more win they score ONE goal?? Really??... That one game controlled the entire league standings and the WCHA had hours to plan the outcome... Do you think it was by accident that the two AK schools faced off on the last weekend of the season... C'mon people, nobody smells a rat here? Wake up and smell the locker room... We've been duped by The Little Red Man and his oversized "W"! Didn't anyone catch that the nWCHA featured color is red? Clearly the WCHA is now a communist organization which forces its agenda on us fans with an iron fist. Don't think for one second we don't see what is going on here...

You've seen how this league is run. How much do you want to blame North Dakota?

You mean North Dakota and Denver that went behind everyone's back to start the NCHC. What I saw this year in the WCHA which had every game on its final night very meaningful. North Dakota & Denver started the movement out because they weren't going to let the smaller schools run their league.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

I'm wondering when the league offices will move. I figure it will be after Bruce is replaced and I expect a number of personnel changes once this happens. I can't see DU giving the office space to the league for very much longer. I'm also wondering where the office will end up. Grand Rapids might be a good spot.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

Bemidji and Mankato are the only two Men's and Women's WCHA schools. I would think the offices would be hosted by one of those two schools. Currently they're at DU (Men's) and Wisconsin (Women's).

I think that's as bad of an idea as any. I think that one of the UP schools is the best choice, given that 30% of the league is there — Marquette has the lowest travel burden of the entire league. That said, Mankato is probably the best choice given its proximity to MSP.

Other than a mailing address, is there really a need for a physical brick & mortar league office? Has anyone actually stopped by the office this year?

Which is 100% the result of the teams in the league. What has the WCHA league office done? Botched their streaming TV deal with Fox and created a playoff semifinal that will draw maybe 40 people in a 10,000 seat arena. North Dakota and Denver certainly could have handled the situation better, but it's tough to blame them for not wanting to deal with an incompetent league office that leeched off of their success for years.

Exactly how was the deal botched? Do share the details because delays in getting Fox Sports 1 off the ground and subsequently to launch their internet feeds had far more to do with pushing back the WCHA deal than anything. It's pretty tough to put games on a system that wasn't yet operational.

Not to mention the fact that the America One feeds have been fantastic and the league wide package is unique to college hockey I believe.

I'd say that's a league office doing things quite well.

They've even stopped yelling on Twitter. That alone is a ****ed accomplishment.

Because they ended up on something called AmericaOne trying to squeeze a few extra dollars out of the very few people that still care about their league.

Fox Sports was not available. It was Fox that was responsible. The options were very limited at that point.

They couldn't wait and miss the first two weeks of the season, so they went with an option that will basically shut most everyone out the final two weeks of the season. Genius.

The final 2 weeks? I'm pretty sure the final five won't be on AmericaOne. The first round weekend is completely absurd.
